Had a wonderful two night stay. Everything perfect, friendly and knowledgeable staff, beautiful furnishings, spotlessly clean. Lots of little extras such as afternoon tea, chocolates and pre dinner drinks. An amazing building sympathetically restored. Can't wait to visit again. Breakfast on the balcony was fantastic.

I'll keep this short for words are not enough. Loved our total historic experience in Charleston. Starting with the wonderful hospitality and accommodations at The John Rutledge House Inn. This was our first trip to The South. Looped from Atlanta thru Tenn., NC and SC. Historical areas of the Cherokee and enlightening insight into the economical/ political beginnings and present... The location is amazing... and this was a tremendous way to experience a beautiful historic home (now an Inn/B&B) right in the historic district of Charleston. The staff from booking through to departure were cordial and helful to work with, as was the Inn Keeper who introduced herself during our breakfast on the upstairs, wrought-iron front porch. We had a... More

When we arrived, the John Rutledge House Inn was being visited by people on a historic homes tour, making it clear that this residence has some historic significance. That in itself made it a worthwhile place to stay. The location is good, the breakfast and room furnishings are excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we did not realize when... The John Rutledge House truly illustrated the idea of Southern Hospitality . From the moment of our arrival we received a warm greeting, not to mention unparalleled service .The accommodations were beautiful , the meals were excellent ( room being so great had all of them there ) and the attention to all of the details exceeded my expectations .

I'm not sure we could've asked for a better place to stay in Charleston. The rooms themselves are wonderful. We stayed in one of the carriage houses behind the main house. High ceilings, plenty of space, and COMFORTABLE beds (temperpedic mattresses!). The service is also top notch. We had breakfast delivered to our room every morning, which arrived promptly at... Stayed for 3 nights just after Valentine's Day. We traveled with friends so we took 2 rooms downstairs in the front of the house and boy oh boy were they spectacular! Huge, well appointed, comfortable, just lovely! We had a great time even though the weather was unusually cold for that time of year, below 20 degrees, yikes! Didn't stop... More

I had the chance to stay 5 nights in Charleston at the John Rutledge Inn with my mom. We stayed the first 3 nights in the cottages in carriage house, and the last 2 nights in the main hotel. We actually preferred being in the carriage house as we liked the privacy. The room we stayed at in the main... More

My friend and I were looking to meet up for a few nights in Charleston and we are so happy we found the John Rutledge Inn. The staff was great, the beds super comfortable, and the atmosphere was perfect! I am a huge history buff and loved the information on the inn and background of the property. I sometimes want... My lovely bride and I stayed in one of their suites for three nights, to celebrate her birthday. We were impressed. The suite had a large sitting room, with an effective gas fireplace, and a bedroom with another fireplace and a canopied king-size bed. The bathroom was smaller than expected, but it had all the essentials. The concierges are extremely... More
