Just finished a one night stay in the Barksdale House. What a warm and quaint little place. Old school charm, rustic wood floors, four post bed, plantation shudders. All the southern details one would expect. Great from desk service and parking is included in a lot just behind the main house. Generous continental breakfast also included! They also have a... More

A beautiful building in the heart of historic downtown . Every room is charming and carefully maintained in keeping with the age of the building. All the staff are very kind and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the afternoon tea and cookies are great. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I are planning just a quick two night stay at the Inn just to get a feel for the area, since this will be our first time in Charleston. I booked room #4 and was wondering who else out there has stayed in this room, if you have any pics of the room you would like to... More

The Barksdale Inn is a great old home that has lost some of its character as it has been converted into a B & B. There is no real common room for guests to sit in and enjoy the ambiance and most areas of the house needs repair. We had a large first floor room with a big bay window... More

Staying at the Barksdale House was both very good and not so good. The establishment is fortunate in its helpful and friendly staff, but even they cannot do more than being helpful and friendly. The two buildings and their surroundings might have been once called "chic", but it seems that either through neglect, or low funds, the whole establishment became... More

We like staying in B & Bs especially in historic cities where we look forward to the charm of the city translating to the B & B. The Barksdale Inn was somewhat of a disappointment. Our room (one of the first floor rooms) was a lovely large room, but the bathroom was very small with a mirror/ medicine cabinet that... More

The inn is located within easy walking distance of great restaurants and historic sites. The staff was courteous and helpful. On site parking was included. The room was lovely, but the plumbing needs updating. The fixtures were old, there was mold in the tub grout, and the air conditioner leaked onto toilet. The hot water temperature was set too high.

We stayed at the Barksdale House the first week of September 2014. This was our first trip to Charleston and we could not have picked a more convenient location. The inn was within walking distance to everything. We stayed in the carriage house and our room was large, clean and had a mini fridge, table and chairs, flat screen tv... More

The location is ideal as it is withing walking distance of most city sites. The staff upon arrival was friendly. However the "garden & veranda" could use a good landscaper. Our room was comfortable but the bath was small & in need of an update with only one small mirror in the bath. The shower curtain was moldy. (a quick... More

The barksdale house inn was fantastic! They allow pets, which was very helpful for us while passing through the area with our cat. The room was very cute and quaint, and the staff very friendly. Definitely gives you the old timey experience while also providing close access to all the shops.
