I liked the Barksdale House Inn. The rooms were clean, and they offered many rooms at different rates. My much more well-off friends were able to stay in larger room with a whirlpool bath, and my husband and I were able to have a cozy room within our price range. The service is very hands-off. It had more of a... more

This was a splendid bed and breakfast from the word "go". My first visit to Charleston and I couldn't have lucked out more!!! When I read the website that said that they served you breakfast on a silver tray delivered to your room, well, how perfect is THAT? I stayed in the carriage house in the back in Room 11.... more

Just got back from a 4 night stay at the Barksdale House Inn in Charleston. It was a fine looking B&B & I was quite surprised at how large our room was (no. 11 in the Carriage House, bottom floor). The room was very nice, had great hardwood floors, & large shuttered windows (& none of that lacy chintzy stuff... more

My husband and I were very pleased with the Barksdale Inn. It was charming, modern, free parking, great breakfast downstairs, and friendly service. We will definitely recommend this Inn to friends and family and hope to return to stay. The location is perfect and so is the price. more

We stayed at the Barksdale House for 4 nights at the end of April. If you're looking for a small, intimate b&b, this is not the place. The Barksdale House has a fairly large number of rooms distributed on three floors of the main house and two floors of the carriage house. The rooms are all different in size and... more

I stayed there April 5 to 10th. I choose this place for two reasons. They were Location and Price. Oh! And the fact that it is an historic building added to the positives. I know the old saying “you get what you pay for” , but I think for the price of my room (room 8) I got comparably more.... more

We stayed at the Barksdale March 27 & 28 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, some the finish details could use some work, but so what. The location between King & Meeting can't be beat. The price was by far the best we could find for the weekend. The breakfasts were nothing to write home about, but were good with several... more

We stayed at The Barksdale House Inn while visiting our daughter at the College of Charleston. The inn is adjacent to the campus, so getting together with her was very convenient. It was the high season, price wise, and we were so surpised at the rates. The room was beautiful, and breakfast was very nice. It will be our lodging... more

Unfortunately, I was really sick the weekend we stayed at Barksdale House. We were in town for a friend's wedding. I was so under-the-weather that I could barely leave the room. The staff took wonderful care of us and even brought our breakfast to the room when we didn't show up at the table. The amenities were lovely. In the... more

Not much to say other than the price we paid -- $80 -- seemed like a pretty good deal considering other bed-and-breakfasts we have stayed at routinely charge well over $100/night. Room was perfectly good. Excellent location. It's my understanding there is some distinction between inns and B&Bs but I don't know what it is. It was slightly weird that... more
