scott was a great host, Continental Breakfast was nice, included fresh fruit each day. We were a half a block from both King and Meeting Streets, perfect! There is a free parking behind the Inn, which is huge. The Inn could use some updating, some TLC, but the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

My friend and I spent three nights at the Barksdale House and loved it - the House was adorable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We found it absolutely amazing for the price: free wifi and free parking (both hard to find among hotels in the area) and the location is amazing, right in the heart of the... More

The Barksdale is a nicely restored old home that is full of charm. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is outstanding, particularly when considering the price - compared to other hotels and B&Bs near the heart of Charleston. Breakfast is simple and nice and assorted treats are available throughout the day in the lobby area. Our only... More

Barksdale House Inn built in 1778 is small, only 14 rooms, each with a different décor and private bathroom. Our room was located in the carriage house. We chose this Inn because it is located in the historic downtown area of Charleston. Perfect for walking to Market Street, carriage tours and sightseeing. They offered a complimentary breakfast and newspaper. In... More

We stayed in the back carriage house portion of the hotel, which was nicely set back from the street. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed, sitting area, table and refrigerator. The bathroom was modern. The view was of a garden wall or a parking lot, but that didn't really bother us at all. The breakfast was... More

My mom and I have never been to a bed and breakfast before and were wanting to try one out while we went on a weekend visit to my brother at the College of Charleston. We found this gem and were lucky enough to snatch the last room at the last minute. This location was nestled in about a block... More

I stayed two nights at the Inn, in a top floor room. The staff was friendly, the room comfortable, the breakfast generous, and the location outstanding. If you're looking for a generic hotel room, this isn't the place for you. If you prefer something with local charm, you'll enjoy the Barksdale.

As an old fashioned B&B, The Barksdale House Inn is perfectly serviceable. The room we stayed in (#10) was pleasant and fairly clean. The staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the sherry during the afternoon hour. The wood floors appeared to have been recently waxed--we nearly slipped and cracked our heads on dozens of occasions, necessitating a Navy SEAL style... More

We stayed 2 nights in Barksdale House Inn while in Charleston. The location was very central, the room (13) spacious, clean and comfortable. The room was actually located at an old carriage house, behind the main building. The decoration was not as elaborate as in the main building, but we didn't mind. I would stay here again.

I have been to charleston many times, but this is the first time that I stayed downtown. The Barksdale was the perfect place to splurge. The location was great. The weekend breakfast was delicious. The parking is free. The rooms were spacious and quiet for a historic building. I would stay here again. On a side note, when in charleston... More
