We stayed in the back carriage house portion of the hotel, which was nicely set back from the street. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed, sitting area, table and refrigerator. The bathroom was modern. The view was of a garden wall or a parking lot, but that didn't really bother us at all. The breakfast was... More

My mom and I have never been to a bed and breakfast before and were wanting to try one out while we went on a weekend visit to my brother at the College of Charleston. We found this gem and were lucky enough to snatch the last room at the last minute. This location was nestled in about a block... More

I stayed two nights at the Inn, in a top floor room. The staff was friendly, the room comfortable, the breakfast generous, and the location outstanding. If you're looking for a generic hotel room, this isn't the place for you. If you prefer something with local charm, you'll enjoy the Barksdale.

As an old fashioned B&B, The Barksdale House Inn is perfectly serviceable. The room we stayed in (#10) was pleasant and fairly clean. The staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the sherry during the afternoon hour. The wood floors appeared to have been recently waxed--we nearly slipped and cracked our heads on dozens of occasions, necessitating a Navy SEAL style... More

We stayed 2 nights in Barksdale House Inn while in Charleston. The location was very central, the room (13) spacious, clean and comfortable. The room was actually located at an old carriage house, behind the main building. The decoration was not as elaborate as in the main building, but we didn't mind. I would stay here again.

I have been to charleston many times, but this is the first time that I stayed downtown. The Barksdale was the perfect place to splurge. The location was great. The weekend breakfast was delicious. The parking is free. The rooms were spacious and quiet for a historic building. I would stay here again. On a side note, when in charleston... More

The only good thing to say about this bed and breakfast is that it is in a prime location. It is within walking distance of Meeting Street and King Street, and located on the edge of historic Charleston. Also, it is probably the cheapest, decent hotel you can get in the area. That being said, you get what you pay... More

We stayed at Barksdale House Inn in May 2014. We thought the Inn was lovely and the staff were very friendly. We liked the location. It was easy to walk to or take the free shuttle to everything we wanted to see. Based on some reviews we didn't know what to expect. People mentioned the area being loud at night... More

My husband and I (60+) stayed at Barksdale last month for 3 nights. We stayed in the carriage house. Bed was comfy, bathroom adequate, with lots of storage. Perhaps a comfy chair would have been a welcome addition to our room on the ground floor. The breakfast was delicious each morning and was very pleasant sitting on the porch to... More

This renovated bed and breakfast has a great location for those looking to walk to King Street, the markets, Rainbow Row and more. We were able to walk and see so much. The staff was very nice and our room (#8) was small but was fine for the two of us, esp. since we were out most of the time.... More
