I absolutely love this Bed and Breakfast. If I ever have to stay in Charleston again, this will definitely be my first choice to look for a room. It's beautiful, historic, quiet, soooo comfy, and the breakfast was delicious. I loved everything about my room, #4. The staff is really nice and the people I met and ate breakfast with... More

This place is nice, the staff are friendly enough, but be aware it's over a mile from the downtown/tourist area. They'll make sure to let you know it's "in town," "on the peninsula," and "in Charleston," but they'll leave out the distance from the primary sites a first-timer wants to see. I don't mind the walking, but that's a lot... More

After bypassing Charleston for the last 25 years on our way to and from Hilton Head Island, we decided last minute that this was our year to see Charleston. Our stay was short - just 48 hours - not nearly enough time to sample all the amazing restaurants on King Street. Our choices for lodging were limited due to the... More

Pleasant inn, rooms could be upgraded, bed was not very comfortable, bathroom was small and rather neglected. Towels were not changed even when left on the floor as requested by the sign in the bathroom when we wanted clean towels. Breakfasts were very good and the staff was friendly, however requests for missing items were not always met.

My mother and I stayed at the Inn for three nights and we were sad leaving a place that had started to feel like home. You get a key to the house and to your room and after a day it starts to feel like you're at your own house. There's a shared fridge where there is always fresh ice... More

This was a getaway celebrating our grandson's graduation and it certainly was special! The staff was helpful from the time of booking to our checkout. Their recommendations for tours and restaurants were excellent and the Carriage House was perfect. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely recommend the Ashley Inn for a Charleston vacation. Pat & Garry

Stayed three nights as part of a tour of Georgia and SC. House welcoming and enjoyed good company with relaxing afternoon snacks and breakfast. Room comfortable with access to outdoor space. Bathroom on the small side and as already mentioned no proper mirror. Housekeeping a little haphazard, although room seemed clean enough. Good local restaurants within walking distance. Although slightly... More

The main house is lovely and well maintained. The breakfasts are impressive and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. So why did I rate it as "Poor"? My recent stay was my 3rd time in the carriage house adjacent to the main house and I must say, it has gone downhill considerably under the current owner. The carriage house... More

We regret that you were disappointed in your recent stay at our carriage house and do appreciate your comments about our staff. When you maintain a house that is 175 years old, there are always repairs and improvements to be made. I recall spending time with you and your husband during your stay, and at no time did you mention... More

Had the pleasure of staying at the Ashley. Originally booked 2 nights, but loved it and Charleston so much, stayed an extra day. Lovely Inn, close to restaurants, very helpful, friendly staff, Barry, the owner chatted with us each morning @ breakfast (which was delicious). Nice to know he takes an interest in his guests. Enjoyed visiting with other guests.... More

The Inn provides an excellent value for location, comfort, and experience. We had a room in the main house, as well as the carriage house for a large family gathering. We walked to restaurants, shops, and had plenty of space to relax on the veranda. Breakfast each morning was delightful. Service was friendly and efficient. We will stay at the... More
