Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly caretaker who showed us our room and made sure we were comfortable. We were able to use two bikes which were readily available to explore the downtown area and found plenty of parking for our SUV. The soveiner mugs were awesome, the breakfast was very good, home cooked, of course! Overall, a... more

This grand old lady was a treat to stay. It's loaded with history, nicely renovated, and very clean. We stayed in the third floor suite . The long steps are quite steep especially to the third floor and a challenge with a suitcase. As noted by other reviewers, the noise of a nearby hospital, especially with the frequent medivac helicopters... more

My husband and I stayed at the Ashley Inn for 3 nights while in Charleston in May 2007. We enjoyed it overall, but there are a few (mostly minor) issues that could bug some people. First the pros: We loved the breakfasts that we got everyday, and especially appreciated the afternoon tea and lemonade. They have tea snacks that change... more

Stayed at Ashley Inn in April, 2007. The room itself was nice and the breakfast was outstanding. The two main drawbacks were the traffic and the location. My husband was up two nights in a row because of the loud traffic outside. It goes on all night!! Also, the Inn is located too far from the shopping and bay area... more

This Inn is a block from a hospital and on widely traveled street so there are noises at night (sirens and even an emergency helicopter). So it is not peaceful. The bathroom was just a toilet and shower - The sink was in the bedroom - not in the bathroom - so not very private or convenient. The room was... more

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Ashley Inn. All in all, our stay was pretty good! Our room was clean, nice sized - queen size bed, small sitting area, and bathroom in our room. We also had french doors off our room which lead to the second floor veranda. The staff was friendly and offered suggestions... more

I was sold on the Ashley Inn and booked 2 nights on line. The room we were given was on the top floor. It had an incredibly hard bed and polyester sheets guaranteed to exfoliate you as you moved "trying" to get comfortable. My husband sneezed all night and I noticed some black mold in the bathroom. In the morning... more

After staying in a wonderful inn in Savannah, we knew we would be disappointed by the Ashley Inn. We stayed in the cheapest, and thus smallest room. For the same price of our room in Savannah we were given a room half the size in Charleston. It literally fit the bed, a built-in closet with TV and the bathroom. There... more

We stayed at The Ashely Inn, but in the Carriage House. This was after coming straight from another Inn in Savannah,GA. that was a hard act to follow. The Inn is clean and the main house is very pretty. The carriage house bathrooms were impossibly small and uncomfortable, but the rest of the rooms were spacious. The staff was very... more

The room was so small it literally held the bed, a nightstand, and a tv. The Sunday breakfast was okay. But they only had 1 option - omelettes.... no pancakes or muffins or waffles like the guidebooks raved about. There is no innkeeper at the inn. If you want something you have to call down to their other inn and... more
