stayed at the Francis Marion for 5 nights - wonderful central hotel and courteous and efficient staff - from check in to check out. We had a problem with our toilet and it was attended to immediately - Nothing in this hotel was a problem and free internet was a bonus. A staff member called Jere went out of his... more

Stayed here for a conference which was held in the hotel. Charleston is very very charming. This hotel is in the perfect area for walking and seeing all the sights. It is old, that is for sure. The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller. The room was adequate for me but it wasn't the grandest property I have... more

my best friend and i stayed at the francis marion july 2-4. the location on king street couldn't have been better--right across from marion square park and within walking distance to great restaurants and pubs. (i recommend raval and chai's for drinks and socializing) unfortunately, the bathrooms were very small...no extra space anywhere at all. also, the ventilation system in... more

It was a good stay! My first honeymoon night (6-21-08). Very nice hotel. It was $17.00 for parking. Our room had a King Size Bed, the view was nice, the bathroom was very nice, just small. Nice Linen, a Soft and Comfortable bed. I don' t have too many complaints. All and all it was for only one night, we... more

My husband and I were visiting the south and decided at the last minute to stay in Charleston after staying in Savannah. We stopped in the visitors center and booked this highly recommended hotel at a discounted price. The hotel staff behind the front desk weren't as friendly as one would expect. We weren't treated with the same smiling faces... more

We have just returned from a week's vacation through NC. SC, and GA. On our third night we booked a room at the Francis Marion Hotel. We found this hotel on it's website and thought it looked interesting. To our surprise when we checked in, the girl at the desk told us that they had up-graded us to the Francis... more

This hotel is in an older, updated building. Not for you if you like big bathrooms and standard Sheraton rooms. If you like historic buildings, high ceilings, lots of detail, comfortable accommodations and close-in location, its worth taking a look. The rooms vary in size -- mine was huge and very comfortable, but my friend at the same conference had... more

My husband had a convention being held at the Francis Marion so I just had to force myself to join him for the week. What luck that it was during the huge arts festival Spoleto. The park across the street had art every day and there were concerts everyday and night in multiple locations. The hotel is centrally located and... more

The very first impression of the hotel was not a favourable one: The entrance of the Hotel is kind of strange since you have to walk stairs until you reach the lobby - not a very elegant and convenient entry. The lobby is huge, but sparcely and cluttery furnished, it is neither sophisticated, nor welcoming or even comfortable. The receptionist... more

Bad news first: the rooms are very small, it is older, the bathroom is TEENY TINY. Old fixtures in bathroom. Now the good news: Great location: The Francis Marion is located downtown, very conveniently located on two of the trolley lines so you can buy a pass an hop on and off for easy access around downtown. It is a... more
