After nearly not being able to find a room in Charleston due to a big annual race on April 5, we were thrilled to secure a Deluxe King room at the Francis Marion for 3 nights, April 5-7, to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel was perfect. It looks historic, but it has all the amenities of a new hotel including... more

We booked the Francis Marion on the hotel website for $259 per night. We received a confirmation from the hotel, but did not notice that they did not confirm the rate on the room. When we checked in, the room rate was changed to $329 per night. We challenged the desk manager/supervisor and were told that it was policy to... more

I recently stayed at the Francis Marion with three other girls for a bachelorette party weekend. I reserved the King Suite which was on the Penthouse floor and unbelievably huge. The suite consisted of a large bedroom with a King Size bed, two large bathrooms, a massive dining room, a good-sized kitchenette, a large foyer and a huge living room.... more

Im writing this from my room at the Francis Marion. Besides having to pay $170. a night for a small, cramped room with a tiny bathroom that doesn't even have a space to sit my toiletries, I am being charged $10.00 a day for internet service. The furniture in the room looks like they got it at a fire sale... more

I know it's an older hotel, but it's not my style, escpecially at $200+ a night. The pictures on the sight do not show the real rooms, or its one special room. They did remodel recently I was told, but must have purchased damaged and worn fixtures. About the newest item in the room that was worth while was the... more

The location of this hotel is great and the room was a rather good size. However the room lacked warmth. It was just a regular hotel room in an old building. Even though Charleston hotels are generally expensive, this hotel was still not worth the price. The next time we are in Charleston we will definitely try another hotel. more

Great location. Historic. Friendly service. Some of the public areas could use a face lift. Room had a view of the alley. Food was good although the breakfast buffet lacked variety. more

True welcoming Southern hospitality - from the doorman to the check-in clerk who upgraded our room to a park view, to the chambermaid who stopped us in the hall to inquire if we needed anything else to the concierge who arranged very early morning taxi service. Very clean, comfortable rooms and beds. Easy walking distance to all tourist sites. My... more

The room was large and overlooked the Francis Marion Square. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. I enjoyed the meal room service provided. Service was friendly and helpful. I highly endorse this hotel for your next stay in Charleston and found it's location within easy walking distance of the historic areas and the Battery. You simply cannot go... more

Just back from a trip to Hilton Head with a side trip to Charleston. Stayed at the historic Frances Marion hotel. Everything was perfect, from check-in to check-out. Front desk was extremely nice and professional, bellman (we had the same one coming and going) was great, concierge was helpful. Nicely located for a brisk walk to the Aquarium and Fort... more
