Love Hunting Island and all the extras like lighthouse and marsh walk. Beach is beautiful and I love the cloth walk from the campground to the ocean instead of a boardwalk. Volunteers are so nice and helpful, painless check-in!

We stayed at this campground over Labor Day weekend this year and absolutely loved it! We booked late and were lucky to find a spot available at all, even if it was on the "dreaded back loop" that everyone has talked about, site 174 I think. We had read all the reviews and came prepared for the mosquitoes. Nothing a... More

We had a great time camping at Hunting Island State Park. We are not beach people but the raves on this state park made me make a reservation. Wow so glad I looked at the right moment and found 5 open spots. HSP is usually a year in advanced reservation especially during the prime season. For a campground that had... More

We had a spot along the fence by the ocean (#63) and it was perfect. Large size, level ground, tree coverage during the afternoon. The first two days were windy and the bugs were not an issue. Days three and four... I was happy we were by the ocean as the wind had died down some and the mosquitos came... More

I've been going to Hunting Island with my family for more than twenty years, always staying in cabins by the beach. My boyfriend and I decided to try out the campground (tent only, we didn't use a camper), and reserved #205, which I thought would be rather secluded and near the beach. I was right about the seclusion - but... More

Campsite #195 will not easily accommodate a 32 ft. Motor home unless you are able to pull into the site across from it due to the strategically placed trees. Restrooms were functional, yet needed updating and more thorough cleaning. An exhaust fan would be a great addition to the restrooms as well as better screens. Men's showers were 6 feet... More

We stayed in site 170, overall good site - kinda tucked in the woods, away from the road. We stationed our tents and cars to block it off, so our kids could play safely in our area. Great place for a hammock! The beach was awesome! Especially, during low tide because there were nice little tide pools for the little... More

Stayed here last weekend, first time in the area. We had gotten the very last site available, T201. It had a very tropical/survivor ish feel to it. I had read many many reviews about the mosquitoes and raccoons so we took warning. The mosquitoes were insane back in that area so take plenty of spray. I did see one raccoon... More

We stay on the beach all day, in by dark. No bugs! Take your golf cart for afternoon rides! Wonderful people and lots of kids but totally quiet! If you are not oceanfront, you need bug spray for nights. Bath houses are well cleaned daily up front. Large store and very strict security.
