Great camp store with supplies. Lots to do between the beach, biking and hiking paths , fishing pier, light house. Good atmosphere. Nobody wAs rowdy or too loud. Good vAriety of sites some right on ocean and others woodsy and secluded . Good spacing between sites and plenty of space for two tents on each site. Good hot wAter showers... More

A beautiful campground, well kept, clean, and friendly atmosphere but no sewer hookups. We stayed for one week. One problem we encountered towards the end of our stay was a foul odor from the dump station which was two lots away from us. This is the only place we've ever encountered anything like this. Would go back but just make... More

Being a new camper, I was not prepared for the beauty of Hunting Island State Park Campground! The camping spots are situated so your camping spot has privacy, yet close to everything! The campground offers full hook-up & primitive spots. Located right on the Atlantic, you are never far from a walk on the beach! If you are there when... More

Hunting and Estido are my two favorite beachside campgrounds south of the Mason Dixon (and we live in FL!) We stayed here twice in October 2013 and 2014 and just love it. Pet friendly and pets are allowed on beach. Very nice camp store, staff very friendly, but make sure you check out your sites - some can be difficult... More

Never in my life I have seen such a collection of various palm trees in a dense layout with a small intertwined road for you to traverse through the park and soak in all the beauty. It's the east coast version of the California Redwoods. The park is amazing.

Hunting Island is a beautiful and unique place. Some of the jungle scenes from Forrest Gump were filmed here. The campground has its own beach, seperate from the day use beach. So the campers have private access to a big nice beach. I think I had the most private tent site in the place (209 I think). I value privacy... More

Love Hunting Island and all the extras like lighthouse and marsh walk. Beach is beautiful and I love the cloth walk from the campground to the ocean instead of a boardwalk. Volunteers are so nice and helpful, painless check-in!

We stayed at this campground over Labor Day weekend this year and absolutely loved it! We booked late and were lucky to find a spot available at all, even if it was on the "dreaded back loop" that everyone has talked about, site 174 I think. We had read all the reviews and came prepared for the mosquitoes. Nothing a... More

We had a great time camping at Hunting Island State Park. We are not beach people but the raves on this state park made me make a reservation. Wow so glad I looked at the right moment and found 5 open spots. HSP is usually a year in advanced reservation especially during the prime season. For a campground that had... More

We had a spot along the fence by the ocean (#63) and it was perfect. Large size, level ground, tree coverage during the afternoon. The first two days were windy and the bugs were not an issue. Days three and four... I was happy we were by the ocean as the wind had died down some and the mosquitos came... More
