I believe this Inn was built in 1925 and it shows. The rooms were clean though and the stay had breakfast included. The food was delicious, I must say. There isn't much to say about management. Our doorknob fell off and there was no one around to help. We had to get into the room with a straw. But it... More

This is a clean, comfortable, affordable Inn in the tradition of genre. We purposely chose room 11, the least expensive accommodation, it was small and in the 'barn' but perfectly adequate for our needs. During our stay we looked in on other rooms and they were all nicely appointed, some with working fireplaces. The included breakfast was incredible, from homemade... More

Two of us spent one night and totally enjoyed the experience. It was over Easter weekend and very helpful to be able to book just one night. The room was good sized with a fireplace and supplied wood (we didn't use it but many others did - it smelled wonderful!), the bathroom was large with plenty of towels. Dinner at... More

Went for wine dinner special, checked in, went to dinner came back to room to find no electricity,no heat. It was 10 degrees out. Lit fire in fireplace to stay warm, called desk. Was told electric co was on the way! Room fills with smoke, alarms ringing,no response from staff. Go outside to breathe and slip on ice covered stairs,... More

The Inn is not maintained as it should be. Staff is not organized and management does not seem overly interested about poor service or poor meals served. If there is a storm which knocks out the power the management lights open candles all over the Inn, frightening to go to bed knowing what is burning downstairs when this occurs. The... More

Shelter Harbor Inn, far down South County in Rhode Island, is a place to get a decent return on your room money. In winter, rates run from $96 to $156. We've stayed there a few times, and find it cozy and comfortable, most recently on New Year's Eve 2014. Thing about Shelter Harbor is it's a bit of a throwback,... More

Delightful inn just off Rte 1 and close to a bunch of Westerly beaches. We had a nice, traditional bedroom where everything (almost) worked. Staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful - we were able to store our bikes in the maintenance shed out of the rain and they gave us good local information on beaches, ferries, restaurants, etc. Warning:... The rooms are OK and the atmosphere is decent but the price would lead you to believe it is much much nicer. A lot of these reviews are spot on. We also had a disaster of a check in like many others. It really is incomprehensible that they keep everything in binders that are labelled "Dining Room" and "Log Book"... More

Where do I begin? My sister and I stayed her here this past weekend and it was a nightmare from start to finish. I arrived first and attempted to check in. The woman at the desk couldn't find my reservation (which was made in May). I told her I had booked room 6 because it had 2 beds. She promptly... More

My husband and I stayed here this past Sunday and were overall unimpressed. We had room 23, which we chose because it was said to have nice views and a fireplace. The room smelled heavily of campfire smoke, it appeared that someone had pulled a partially burned log out of the fireplace and stuck it in the log holder for... More
