We recently completed a short 2 night vacation to Westerly, staying at the Shelter Harbor Inn. We were a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews on here, and having had one negative experience previously, but on this visit we had no negative issues at all, and many positive experiences. We will gladly return. The room was small,... More

I went here twice this visit to Westerly. The brunch prices were very reasonable. Service help was under staffed, so service was slow. We all enjoyed the food tho. When I went again for lunch 2 days later, the service was fine. We liked the food, but the sunroom dining room was the big draw for us. Very pleasant surroundings.

My family recently held an afternoon event here. I will start with the single positive about this place: The grounds are pretty; there is an outdoor deck and covered patio to enjoy the weather. The negatives: The service is AWFUL! For an open bar event, people were randomly charged for their drinks. At one point, I witnessed the bartender telling... More

This inn is charming and quaint, although it could use some updates. We went there looking for a short family vacation before our summer schedules got really hectic, and got exactly what we were looking for: some R and R. The bedrooms are spacious (we had 8 and 10) and clean, and the decor is 'old world'. My husband and... More

There is nothing positive I can say about this place. I am aware that this inn has a wonderful history of good food and service. Clearly owner Jim Dey ran this place well for decades. But that was then, this is now. What exists now is a dysfunctional inn/restaurant run by (mostly) an inexperienced teenaged staff and an owner who... More

We recently spent two nights at the Shelter Harbor Inn while in Waverly for our nephew's wedding. We had a clean, comfortable and spacious room in the "Barn," overlooking the croquet lawn. The B&B breakfasts were delicious and generous, Lots of choices - gourmet offerings such as variations on eggs Benedict and daily quiche specials (my choices) as well as... More

The Inn itself is very old and quintessential New England, which we loved. The rooms are very old, but they are clean and bathroom was large. Our A/C unit didn't work at all, so we were very uncomfortable when we were in our room. And we didn't ask for it to be fixed because it was hard enough to just... More

Had planned a special dinner with friends. No waitress was assigned to our table and we sat there over half hour until I went to kitchen area to inquire. No water, no bread, no salt and pepper, cool soup, others around us were served way before us after they came in well after us. Problem, no one was assigned to... More

The Shelter Harbor Inn is a quaint hotel with numerous lodging options. The setting is magnificent. The decor of the rooms needs some upgrading. The advertised queen-sized bed turned out to be a double bed which is a little small to call it comfortable. What the Inn lacks in modernity it makes up in charm.

My husband and I ordered roast tenderloin. What came on our plates was a piece of meat, two asparagus, two red potatoes quartered. I've had cheeseburgers bigger than that! We left still hungry. Thanks to kingston pizzeria for filling us up!
