Thx to all the TA reviewers as I chose this place from what I read. It was perfect for a one night stay. Front desk staff was very nice and breakfast was much better than I was expecting. The room was fine, bed comfy but we were on the front side and you could hear car noise on the road... More

We drove around and checked out 4 other big chain hotels and all were far away from Newport's downtown yet very expensive. We were so relieved to drive into The Carriage House Inn to find very friendly and helpful staff, a great rate, a very good location (so, not right next to a major highway or road) with mature trees,... For the money I can't complain, you get what you pay for. The room size was good and although everything is dated it all functions and is reasonably clean and tidy. I'm not sure if this hotel has something against people who book through hotel booking sites instead of directly through them but I was made to feel unwelcome upon... More

Not sure what I expected. My husband is a Choice member but this is first Ascend hotel we've stayed in. The facility is old - I was told after our visit that it used to be a nursing home which explained alot. The rooms were huge & the elevator was what you'd find in a hospital. Bedroom was clean but... We stayed there for a night get away. The Inn was close to everything. Room was neat and so was the bathroom. The only set back was the breakfast. Don't expect much. The bed was comfy. Had a microwave and a fridge. Quiet residential area. Liked their backyard which had a small porch, and you can sit in the sun,... More

we spent one night at this Inn on Sept. 14, 2011 while attending the Newport boat show. The building looks old, but a lot af charm comes with the old. The front desk staff was always accommodating and friendly, going out of their way to explain or recommend things. The room was plenty big enough for us and bathroom was... More

We stayed at the Carrage House for a night on the way to Cape Cod on Sunday 8/14. It'a a nice bed and breakfast sort of place, an old house made in to an inn. Our room was upstairs, they do have an elevator, but it's in back and a long walk around from the front desk. Room was clean... More

We stayed there for 2 nights the 1st weekend in August. Almost all Newport hotels have a 3 night minimum for "event" weekends, and this was the Newport Jazz Festival (which we were not attending).. So we were happy to see that they had only a 2 night minimum, which is what we wanted. It's outside of Newport center which... More

We stayed last night at the Carriage House Inn because we needed somewhere to stay in/near Newport while visiting friends whose place was not big enough for us. The hotel is in Middletown, just over the line from Newport. So, it is too far to walk to anything of interest, but the hotel does have a shuttle that will drop... More
