I arrived in a snowstorm with no reservation and it took 10 minutes of loud banging on a locked door to bring someone to the front desk. She wasn't friendly and she acted as if I was interrupting something. Though there was only one vehicle in the lot, she insisted that there were no "smoking" rooms available. I settled for... more
I stayed at this hotel with my wife and grandson from the 9th to the 20th of July, 2008. There were a number of choices for my stay in the Portsmouth, RI area (my hometown) but after reading a number of reviews on this site, and after speaking with the hotel staff, I chose Travelodge. I was not disappointed. The... more
This place is very reasonably priced, yet nice and clean. It is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Newport. If you are looking for a value accomodation in the Newport area and don't mind having to get in the car to go where you want....this is a great choice. The room was fine..comfortable bed, good shower in the bathroom,... more
I reviewed the other comments and thought, overall, the reviews weren't too bad, so we took a chance and reserved a room. Big mistake! We requested a quite room away from obvious noise and were given a room where there were steps right outside the door to go up to the next level. When we entered the room it was... more
This hotel is a nice, clean hotel for a good value. The room with two double beds was a nice size with a nice size bathroom with a large counter. The TV received a lot of channels. The outdoor pool was very clean and heated (though not warm -- just enough to take the edge off) and was open until... more
I was there for the Naval War College graduation on 20 Jun 08. The travel lodge was a bit hard to find the first time since Rt 114, West Main St and Broadway St all seem to be the same street. Nonetheless, once we found it, it was surprisingly close to everything. If your big on five star luxury, this... more
I needed a quick get-away to Newport, and my husband could not join me. So looked for something less costly than usual. This motel was perfect. Off the road, so quiet. Only thing annoying was the sounds of folks walking upstairs, but I soon tuned them out. This is an older facility, but the management has gone out of their... more
If you're staying in Newport for any reason, try the Travelodge in Middletown. Convenitently located on a main shopping strip, but set back away from the road. You'll hear no noise. One of the cleanest motels you'll ever see! Spotless inside and out. Get the upgraded King suite with private balcony. It's worth it. Staff is very friendly and courteous.... more
We stayed 2 nights at the Travelodge in Middletown, RI for Memorial Day weekend. The place was a great value and a pleasant experience. Since it was memorial day weekend, other hotels were either booked or extremely overpriced. This travelodge was conveniently located about a 10 minute drive from Newport and near stores such as Shaws (grocery), Home Depot, Best... more
