We stayed in the Avonlea just a week before the boat races..and almost had the Inn -- and the Island to ourselves! We've been to the Island many times-- but I will always shoot for the Avonlea First, after this stay...Everything about the Inn is perfectly done, and not overdone-- for me. Food and service and rooms--A+ ..We explored the... More

This is our third visit to Block Island and staying at The Avonlea. It is one of the most relaxing islands and inns we have ever been to. The rooms are clean, breakfast is great, afternoon wine & appetizers are fantastic! Let us not forget the wonderful cookies. We stayed in the Emerald Room this visit. Wonderful view! Meg and... More

We rented the Waverly 1 and II cottages and a room at the Avonlea for a family get together. The weather was perfect. The location was perfect. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was very good. Missed the wine hour (darn) but had our own wine hours on the beach talking and catching up. The only complaint I would have... More

Perfect location - stones throw from everything, but somehow feels secluded and peaceful. Only place with waterfront access, and the view is specTacular. The staff are so lovely and helpful and you can't beat the delicious breakfast on the porch! We'll definitely come back!

I stayed at the Avonlea for the weekend with some friends for a 'get-away' weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The room was very comfortable and the view was breathtaking. Meg & Josh were so helpful and an extremely nice couple. I like that it is off the main street, but still close enough that it is only a... More

Block Island is one of the most relaxing, stress free places I have ever been to. The Avonlea, with its beachfront location off the main streets transformed our stay into a perfect getaway. The inn is the only B&B on Block Island that is directly on the beach. With its wrap around porch and majestic views from mostly every window,... More

Staying at Avonlea was a magical experience. In terms of bed and breakfasts, this one is at the top of my list. Meg and her husband were warm and gracious, making our experience most memorable. We stayed in the Ruby room, and although small, had one of the most wonderful views I've ever seen. We will be back!

We stayed for 4 nights at the Avonlea and had a wonderful time. We took friends who have never stayed there before and they fell in love with it. We stayed in the Moonstone which has a beautiful view of the ocean. The inn keepers Meg & Josh are so friendly and added to this wonderful experience. This is our... More

My wife and I have not been to Block Island since 1973 (we live about 15 miles away in RI) and decided at the last minute to join some friends for a few days on the Island. We stayed at the Avonlea in the Jewel room (only room available since we were booking last minute). The B&B was quite nice... More
