Room we booked was below the main living quarters, apparently a converted crawl space. a rating of 2 out of 10. The 3rd night we were offered a room on main floor off common area. Nice room. Breakfasts were OK, but not the quality of any other B n B we have visited. Owner NOT on premise at this location.

So sorry to hear you were displeased with your stay. It is important to clarify none of our 9 rooms is a converted crawl space. All rooms have ample space for 2 people and an en suite bathroom. There are two rooms on the ground floor without ocean views, both of which have king sized beds. The other 7 rooms... More

Closest thing to nirvana! Incredible ocean view. Hearing the sea all night and smelling the constant delicious odors from the kitchen. Very comfortable bed. Ann is the hostess with the mostess! Could not be more accommodating. Brian, a Johnson & Wales chef, is always so great to us. My wife and I eat a vegan diet and he couldn't be... More

My husband and I stayed at the avonlea for our anniversary/birthday getaway and it was very relaxing. Meg and josh the innkeepers were great, the breakfasts were delicious. The room was clean and cozy. We love block island and enjoy our stays each time but especially enjoy staying at the avonlea.

We had an absolutely delightful weekend at Avonlea in November. We highly recommend exploring Block Island in the off-season, and Avonlea was the perfect spot from which to do it. It is in a great location, especially as we chose to come without a car. It was a great starting point for our long hikes. Our room was cozy and... More

Stayed at the Avonlea a few times and always found the accommodations and service excellent. Even though the innkeepers were away the woman who took care of the house was excellent. The breakfast was wonderful as well as afternoon snacks. Will definitely go again. A very friendly island.

The Waverly cottage rooms are a great place to stay on the Island. The suites are clean, comfortable and are right in the Old Harbor area making many stores and restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast is always delicious; and the barnacle cookies served during the afternoon wine and nibbles are sooooo good. The setting is just perfect to... More

If your heading to block island I highly recommend Avonlea. Everything about this B&B speaks perfection, from the room(we had the moonstone suite) to the breakfast and dont forget the afternoon happy hour.Seeing the sunrise from our room was amazing and being lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the sea something to experience. The room is tastefully... More

EVERYONE READ THIS!! Cause I'm a tough critic. This place is truly AMAZING! I always said I love to travel but I won't ever go somewhere Twice...it's just not worth it when there is so much to see...BUT with AVonlea...we decided this is our place...and we'll be back EVERY YEAR to get away from it all. From the initial booking... More

We had been looking for a pet friendly vacation. We booked the Waverly suite II for two days. Wonderful staff, great breakfasts. Rooms were spacious and well maintained. The water view off the back deck was beautiful! We had a great time on the island and were able to celebrate our yellow lab's birthday doing what he likes to do... More
