I reserved the Amethyst room for my parents in early May. They had an amazing time. The B&B is situated just outside of town - an easy 5 minute walk, but far enough apart that you don't get a lot of the crowds. They had a little poarch for their own private use, but the main sitting room and poarch... More

The Avonlea is unlike any other B&B on Block Island as it is right on the beach. Meg and Josh are wonderful hosts; kind and helpful. The breakfast, wine & cheese hour were always good. Especially the cookies! The peacefulness and views at the Avonlea are breathtaking. At night leave your window open and listen to the waves rolling in... More

This was our second time staying at the Avonlea and both times it was great! We like staying there in the off season because it's less busy and more quiet. You don't have all the restaurants as you would during the regular season, but you still have a few restaurants that are very good. We biked around and on our... More

We 💕 The Avonlea;) such a dreamy beach retreat & the innkeepers and staff are perfectly gracious hosts, from our warm cookies at welcome to our hugs goodbye. We look forward to returning soon! Xo, K&M

My husband and I traveled to Avonlea for a relaxing getaway in April 2015. Innkeepers Meg and Josh were always available to help with requests or questions and made our stay very enjoyable. Our room was small but had its own deck overlooking the ocean (Amethyst Room) with a beautiful view. The breakfasts each day were varied and enjoyable including... More

Room we booked was below the main living quarters, apparently a converted crawl space. a rating of 2 out of 10. The 3rd night we were offered a room on main floor off common area. Nice room. Breakfasts were OK, but not the quality of any other B n B we have visited. Owner NOT on premise at this location.

So sorry to hear you were displeased with your stay. It is important to clarify none of our 9 rooms is a converted crawl space. All rooms have ample space for 2 people and an en suite bathroom. There are two rooms on the ground floor without ocean views, both of which have king sized beds. The other 7 rooms... More

Closest thing to nirvana! Incredible ocean view. Hearing the sea all night and smelling the constant delicious odors from the kitchen. Very comfortable bed. Ann is the hostess with the mostess! Could not be more accommodating. Brian, a Johnson & Wales chef, is always so great to us. My wife and I eat a vegan diet and he couldn't be... More

My husband and I stayed at the avonlea for our anniversary/birthday getaway and it was very relaxing. Meg and josh the innkeepers were great, the breakfasts were delicious. The room was clean and cozy. We love block island and enjoy our stays each time but especially enjoy staying at the avonlea.

We had an absolutely delightful weekend at Avonlea in November. We highly recommend exploring Block Island in the off-season, and Avonlea was the perfect spot from which to do it. It is in a great location, especially as we chose to come without a car. It was a great starting point for our long hikes. Our room was cozy and... More

Stayed at the Avonlea a few times and always found the accommodations and service excellent. Even though the innkeepers were away the woman who took care of the house was excellent. The breakfast was wonderful as well as afternoon snacks. Will definitely go again. A very friendly island.
