We live in RI and booked this hotel in February '14 for 3 nts/4days in August '14 with 3 other couples. At that time we got the last room with a "queen" bed. All others were twin beds. They have a large parking lot and do not charge for parking. So we decidied to bring our car over. The BI ferry... More

This is an historic hotel that is operated by a family that clearly loves the place and the community. It is located on the main waterfront of Block Island, in the heart of the action. Great dining on the large covered deck, for all three meals. Indoor and outdoor bar, music several nights a week (baby grand in the lobby),... More

We stayed there in July 2013 and the stay was awesome! The hotel was clean, view amazing, good food. We were allowed to stay for the minimum of 2 nights and have already booked for this year. Would recommend it highly, even without the private bathroom, we had no problems sharing the facilities.

I called to book a large number of hotel rooms and 1 they don't do room blocks. On top of that good luck making a reservation for less than 1 week. There website says 2 night minimum but it is completely false. They said they won't book for just a weekend...might as well try elsewhere and not waste your time.

We last stayed at the Surf Hotel back in 1994 and I'm so glad to see it back in business again. Our room was neat as a pin - we had a streetside room and it was nice to open the window and hear some evening activity - people chatting and laughing, crickets, faint music, the occasional car. It almost... More

Surf Hotel is situated near the ferry docking in Old Harbor and on a beach. The owner has expanded the deck so the outside deck now includes a bar with stools that allow patrons to view the cove and the bluffs. Their are numerous outdoor sitting areas facing the cove and the main drag. The verannah has numerous rocking chairs... More

We stayed at the Surf with our two young children for a week or two each summer from the mid-80s until it closed. It is located directly on the ocean, and we had the best family vacations of our lives there. We stayed there again briefly last year, after it first reopened, but were disappointed by many things, among them... More

Went for a glass of wine at the outdoor bar and the view was absolutely spectacular. A lot of renovations are happening and the charm is so Block Islandish. Next trip would love to stay and wake up to the ocean view, very relaxing.

not recommended for families with small children. No air conditioning on a hot humid weekend. Lighting was not working properly either. Only highlight was the convenient beach right outside the doorsteps and the food was great too. Overall, I don't think they should've reopened without making better renovations.

This is old Victorian hotel. the same as it was 100 years ago with some updates. It is euro style with a sink in your room and a common shower and toilets for each floor. If your date wants modern do not go here. But if you love the charm of an old house and can live with a fan... More
