The hotel could use some updates but it is still a nice hotel. They charge for parking but they were nice enough to offer it for free. The restaurant has nice food but it was a little pricey. The staff was wonderful and appropriate. They keep the hotel very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel has some character.

Great stay! Yes, the reviews are correct....This hotel has been around for quite awhile, BUT THAT IS ITS CHARM! You cannot find these old, well maintained hotels often. Worth a stay because of its location. 5 steps in the front?...Yes, similar to grand hotels in New York. Only had breakfast, but both mornings it was delicious. Beautiful woodwork, ceilings and... When I was growing up in York, the Yorktowne was THE place to stay among the (then three) downtown hotels (this was pre-motels). It still is an elegant grande dame. As other reviewers have said, it is not going to be as "modern" as a Holiday Inn or Marriott. Yes, the TV in my room was a tube type, but... More

It is what it is. You've heard it before but you have to look at this grand old lady for what it is. It's seen better days for sure. But it is truly a living history a grand hotel in a city struggling to regain its former glory. I live in York and come here every few years just for... More

We recently stayed at the Yorktowne as part of a conference that we attended. We found the staff, accommodations and meals were excellent in every way. Our room was large and comfortable. Front desk personnel were quite helpful in helping us find our way around the city. Dining room servers were very polite and attentive. The hotel is a classic... More

This was my first time in York so staying at a classic downtown hotel was a great experience. While the hotel is definitely showing its age (rooms, fitness equipment and TV's are dated) the rooms were good size, very clean, quiet, and the hotel staff were friendly, helpful and really put in the extra effort to make your stay enjoyable... We just returned from our second time at the Yorktown Hotel. Though delightful with its antique decor and old fashioned charm, the place needs updating and a good cleaning! The staff was very accommodating, helpful and pleasant. However, that couldn't make up for the problems with our room. There was a "closet" with a miniature toilet and a dripping shower.... More

Had never stayed right downtown before; this was a 3-day seminar and this was the host hotel, so this is where you're staying to attend. GPS puts you right to the front door, no place to park there, follow the signage up and around and back down and alley and to the other side, and then just an unload zone... More

Having stayed in other vintage in-city hotels we were somewhat apprehensive at first, but the conference we were attending was headquartered here so we went ahead and booked it. What a surprise! Our room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable and the staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. I already knew my vehicle would not fit... More

Great hotel in historic York, PA. Excellent staff, friendly and attentative. Rooms are large and comfortable. Excellent hotel to hold an event with. Thomas and the cattering staff could not be beat! Food was very good and the service even better.
