Make no mistake...this is an old downtown hotel with an amazing history. When you go here don't expect anything modern. It's stately and elegant and dated. I live in york and go here for a weekend on special occasions just to get away from cookie cutter resorts. The food is the best in the downtown. And downtown York is an... More

My wife and I visited our daughter at York College. While there we ate in the bar and had a good happy hour and some good food. The hotel is a grand old hotel that is nice. We stayed on the 8th floor, it was quiet and very comfy

I recently stayed at the Yorktowne for an ad hoc reunion with some fellow alums of the local college. When we were undergrads the downtown area of York was avoided. Now, it has gone through a revival and the hotel is at the heart of this new area filled with boutiques, restuarsnts and bards. Everything about this hotel is fantastic.... More

As a visitor to York, first riding the bike trail from Baltimore, and now visiting a son at York College, we've always stayed at the Yorktowne. Over the years the hotel seems to be in a steady decline. Worn carpet, cheap towels, and broken furnishings are the norm in the rooms. The fine dining restaurant and the parking garage are... More

Having stayed at the hotel in years past, I had high expectations for our room. Unfortunately it was gloomy dark (room 316 I think), multiple large stains on the carpet and bed spread, dirty, with tired sparse furnishings, even an old tube TV to boot. We were offered to try another room but felt that any hotel that would offer... More

I stayed at this hotel because I was a guest at a wedding there and they booked a block of rooms for guests. Every room I visited was different. We had a two room suite on the 4th floor but the bed room was behind the sitting room so there was no street noise. The view was rooftops, but that... More

2nd stay at this hotel. Room neat & clean. Hotel website not updated so we were unpleasantly surprised that parking was no longer free (parked in garage across street for $10 per day) & room service discontinued. Arrived @ 7 pm & no help with luggage up steps. Very close to York Fairgrounds for TCA York meet but will stay... More

Stayed one night at the Yorktowne Hotel for business. It was a very picturesque refurbished historic hotel (opened 1925). With being historic, the room was smaller (had a king size bed though), but very clean and not run down at all. These older hotels have so much character and charm than your average modern hotel! Unfortunately, something is going on... More

This hotel had a beautiful grand entrance, but the upstairs rooms were seriously run down. Wallpaper was stained and cracking down the seems. The light switch by the door didn't work and the beds had super old comforters. However, it was super clean, and the shower was great. The guys at the front desk were amazing - provided me with... I don't mean to oversell the The Yorktowne, but my experience seems to be much better than others. The pre-warning I will give all travelers is that this hotel has been around since 1923!!!.It is not going to have certain bells and whistles that the chains out on US 30 do!! Ok!! I saw a valet when I came in.... More
