I stayed here for approximately 30 minutes. While it took me forever to find the "parking garage", aka the city garage across the street, i then went inside. The place is falling apart piece by piece if you just look around. Then the front desk staff was decently nice. They sent me up to my room and then I turned... More

Was apprehensive based on previous reviews, but an overall good experience when attending a wine tasting recently. The lobby was elegant if not a little worn in spots on closer inspection. The hotel is outdated but clean with a helpful staff. Kind of like staying at Grandma's - outdated but clean & comfortable. Our room had a bedroom and sitting... More

Came to the Hotel with a large dance group. What a beautiful historic hotel! Parking was a little confusing but when we finally reached our destination we were greeted by Gena. Even thou we were slightly annoyed she assured us we would enjoy our stay and we did! She made us feel very welcomed. She gave us recommendations on places... More

I used to visit the Yorktowne fairly regularly about 10 years ago working on projects with Pfaltzgraff. At that time it was a thriving hotel with a faded elegance. The grill was a great place for breakfast and there was the bit too "fancy" restaurant off of the lobby that was always trying too hard. Never the less the food... More

I love to stay in historic hotels so when we had to come to York, I was happy to find the Yorktowne Hotel. First of all the roads in York were plowed poorly and driving was difficult. (Coming from a small town I expected much better road conditions for a small city days after snow.) Parking requires you to drive... More

We recently stayed at the Yorktowne Hotel for our third time. Although it could use some refurbishment it is still a fun place to stay. The classic art deco architecture adds a rich feel to the environment. The old fashioned mail slot, bottle cap openers and razor blade slots make for an interesting conversation with kids. Ghost stories abound. In... More

Bought thru Priceline - York is not a safe city. Room doors have two locks on them, a reg door lock ( which doesn't work) and a dead bolt which you opened with a reg metal key that the guest before you may still have a copy of. We felt so unsafe that we went to another hotel. Priceline would... More

Dear Ms. L, Thank You for taking the time to write a Trip Advisor Review. I am sorry that our lock system was confusing. For future Guests, I want to explain what seems to have happened. The upper lock is the Deadbolt and this must be the one that appeared not to work with your key. The lower lock is... More

I seldom write negative reviews, but the most recent reviews (2014) are wildly suspect. As a former York resident I was shocked to see this hotel's current condition. It borders on embarrassing. Can't someone even afford to refinish the front door ? The excellent fine dining in the Commonwealth Room was a mainstay of this very historic hotel. It is... More

My wife and I just spent a few nights at the Yorktowne Hotel while in town visiting family. It is a wonderfully Historic Building located downtown. We were very comfortable in a large room with a Jacuzzi Tub! We had a nice view of the surrounding downtown as we were on the Eighth Floor. If you like history and Architecture... More

My family and I had a wonderful Christmas dinner here...........until we we were unknowingly overcharged a dollar amount we did not authorize. Aparently when you use a credit card they "upcharge" to assure there is money in the account. Although the money should be back in the account in less than a week, it was never authorized in the first... More
