We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. We made a last minute booking when we decided to drive halfway to our destination in Mt. Pleasant to pick up our horse. Paul was very accommodating and friendly. The room was really comfortable and clean. The sheets smelled so fresh! Our breakfast was delicious! Everything was perfect! We... More

My companion and I stayed here for the week for a business trip. We both travel often for work, and usually stay in local hotels. This provided a much appreciated change of pace from our normal schedules. Our biggest benefit was the strong, reliable WiFi signal throughout the house. Although we are neither one breakfast eaters, Paul did keep a... More

My stay at Stony Point was amazing. From the delicious breakfasts to the comfortable room to the quiet evenings complete with fireflies and wildlife sightings, nothing could have made this trip more memorable. Paul is the quintessential host--he stayed out of our way but was there whenever we needed him. I give Stony Point the highest recommendation. It was an... More

I booked with Paul and explained I was riding to Indianapolis and would likely arrive late on this first leg of my journey. The weather was awful and I ended up MUCH later than expected. I called and he said not to worry, just call him when I was close and he would wait up. True to his word he... More

We attended a anniversary celebration for friends and booked a room for the night even though we live only a town away. Party was great and the inn is lovely with beautifully furnished rooms and in a luscious setting. Wonderful comfortable guest room. We needed to leave a little earlier than the set breakfast time frame and the innkeeper had... More

I was very fortunate to find the Stony Point B&B in Tyrone, PA. My mother, sister and I had a wonderful experience. I needed to reserve two rooms for a Friday night with very little notice. I called the Stony Point B&B and spoke with the innkeeper Paul Zottoli. His B&B was full. I explained to him that my family... More

We chose it for its proximity to Juniata College, coming for a graduation there. But any excuse is a good one for a visit to a great, quiet, comfortable house with a fascinating history. Very comfortable and tastefully restored. Excellent food. Friendly and helpful manager who makes you feel at home. Romantic. HIdden under trees forming a forest on a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
STONY POINT.......so well built the original plaster completely covers the walls and ceilings. So well engineered by the Pennsylvania Railroad engineers and Stone masons that the hillside and house have stayed locked in place for nearly a century. The house sits in a hillside "cut" stabilized by deep stone foundations. In the early 20TH century as the Pennsylvania Railroad made the switch to steel freight cars the Italian and Irish immigrant workers of Tyrone dismantled the cars and constructed the floor beams that half the house rests upon. The old PRR stenciling is still visible spanning several decades as evidenced by the changing font and type styles. Numerous engineering and freight terms appear throughout the basement beams. Examples include: "Westinghouse air brake" "capacity" "drake gear" "coupler" and of course "Pennsylvania" as well as multiple freight car numbers. The unusual preponderance of Keystones (16) in the home also lend credence to Stony Point Bed and Breakfasts description as a "marriage between a reserved corporate aesthetic and 1920 high upper middle class tastes. ... more   less
