Flower beds were in need of weeding and seasonal planting. Shutters, soffit and facia, windows and doors need washing. The new curtains need to be hemmed with thread rather than pins and hung on an appropriate rod. Bathtub plugs in the two rooms we used were not working. Fridges had no doos on the freezer compartment. Our water froze as... more

I am your typical big hotel, name brand staying, 39 year old female. I don't usually pick motels to stay at, but this was what was available this trip for us. The hotel is adequate. I was surprised to be greeted by an Indian family at a place called Amish Lanterns. You get soap, shampoo, fridge, microwave and tv. The... more

This hotel is dirty and stinks. The management appears to be the only people (husband & wife) who are employed here and live behind the office. Hence, the work load is too much for 2 people to run the motel, clean rooms, make repairs, mow, maintain & in general fix up the place. There are no newspapers, snacks or drinks available... more

If modern updated rooms are what you're looking for, then keep looking. This is not the place for you. The motel is reminiscent of the old roadside motels of the 1960s and many of the fixtures in the rooms probably haven't been changed since then. It definitely shows its age. Still, with that said, it's not all that bad. The... more

Yes, there are new owners (english not their first language). Yes, they bought new funiture. BUT they forgot to buy new bedding. My blanket, mattress & pillows were still from the 1950's....At these prices I do not expect the Tajmahal... BUT I do want a comfortable place to sleep. DO NOT book the buffet breakfast!!!! Buffet breakfast is off site... more

Myself, my husband and 3 children planned to stay here after visiting the Thomas train. When we first checked in, we were a little surprised at the conditions, but figured the price was reasonable, so we would just deal with it. The "pool" was green. Our room was on the second floor, and the balcony railing was held together with... more

We found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool was closed for maintenance while we were there, hopefully to be reopened during our next stay. It appears that there have been a lot of improvements since the previous reviews were written. It was clean, neatly landscaped with a lot of flowers... more

My husband and I stayed for one night during our vacation. There were no other rooms available in the area. They charged us a total of $89.00 and some change to stay there. We found that to be ridiculous for what it was, but figured the room would at least be clean and comfortable. We immediately saw cobwebs all over... more

I'm late with writing my review. Stayed here a couple of years ago. We were shopping price, traveling with 2 young children. This was our first time going to Pennsylvania with kids. We stayed at the Amish Lanterns because they were reasonably priced. We found out why they're so reasonably priced when we stayed there! Dark, depressing rooms and a... more

The Amish Lanterns Motel used to be one of the finest in the area. I have stayed there religiously since the 1980's. It was clean and well maintained. Donna and her husband were first class people running a first class establishment. When my friends and I got older, married and had kids, it was the PERFECT place to vacation. The... more
