This hotel was very nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. I took my daughter to Winter Welcome at Penn State and I know I will be booking here again when I go to visit her! The Restaurant was closed but we were able to eat in the bar and the food was delicious after such a long ride.... More

We stayed every home Penn State football weekend at the Atherton Hotel. The November 28 weekend was our last weekend for the season. The Atherton Hotel and staff makes us feel more like family than guests. We enjoy eating in the dining room and Rumors Lounge. We really enjoy the entertainment in Rumors Lounge Friday and Saturday nights.Great lcation too.

This is a hotel that is older but it is up to date. It is clean. The staff friendly. The service top notch. The food is well prepared and tasty. The decor and rooms are upscale. The location is right in town. Great if you are visiting Penn State.

The good: within walking distance to downtown and to the campus, affordable rate. The staff at the front desk was very good, professional and helpful. The bad: desparately needs updating in the rooms - the bed was old, the pillows need to be replaced, the bathroom needs a major refresh, not sure the bathroom was really clean.....

We had a great weekend. We enjoyed going to Rumors Lounge the first night. The breakfast was phenomenal and a great price. The actual room was a bit overpriced, especially with the fact that we had to wait 7-10 min. each time we wanted to use the elevator. Try to get a room on a lower floor....we walked down from... Disguised by a bland stucco box exterior an extravagant second floor Victorian hotel lobby interior greets the hotel guest as the elevator door opens. A bit much for my contemporary design sensibilities, but perhaps some people's cup of tea. Rooms are quite large (with a bit less extravagant decor) however feature only double beds rather than queens (beds are also... More

My husband and I were in for the PSU vs MD game weekend. We like to stay at the Atherton because it is convenient ly located on campus and close to our fave bars. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is very welcoming. The bananas foster pancakes are a must for breakfast!

I had a business meeting at the Atherton Hotel. The Atherton was very accomodating when we asked for a room for an evening get together. They removed the bed for added space and added some chairs. They were very helpful when we needed something. We had a reserved a room and had ordered pizza and they kept the pizza warm... More

I recently stayed at the Atherton for a conference and I was impressed by the amenities that came with the room. Because I am a Choice Hotels Rewards Member, the staff gave me a goody bag when I arrived that had bottled spring water, M&Ms, & Combos. One morning during my stay, one of my buttons fell off my shirt.... More

I had a business meeting at the Atherton Hotel. For the price point on a weekday, it was a great deal... It was less than $70 and the location is in perfect proximity downtown. This hotel was recently branded to a chain I am not familiar with but it isn't signed that way. I am hopeful that a makeover is... More
