I found the Inn very warm & friendly....The food was excellent and the staff was all ways around to help out in anyway . It is a Country Inn, nothing fancy, just simple and nice. If your looking for action, top of the line furnishings, spa (with hot tubs) the Inn is not for you. If you looking for a peaceful, relaxing, beautiful country views... more

Food was homestyle-good with a nice mix of dishes, homemade bread was delicious, pancakes are excellent, waitstaff were attentive and very pleasant. Rowboats were adequate and a good workout. Wouldn't want to use one on a windy day. Decks and rocking chairs at the cottage were nice in the evening while enjoying some BYO wine. Most of the guests were... more

I have never written a hotel review before but I wanted to warn future visitors: This was the most awful vacation experience. The owners are unfriendly, the room dirty and the whole place terribly run down. The food was the best thing about the place, not great but OK. Go someplace else or you will be sorry. more

My husband and I stayed at the Inn after a particularly hectic season at our jobs. We found it relaxing and felt pampered. The setting on a lake between mountains was especially tranquil. We relaxed and read and talked sitting on the dock, on the long porch, in the lobby, at the bar, in the restaurant looking out on the... more

Stopped by for a cocktail at about 9 P.M. one evening last week. The sullen and surly female owner seemed to do us a favor in selling us a drink. First bartender I've seen in a long time who wasn't interested in selling or even offering us a second cocktail. If felt as if she couldn't wait to get rid... more

After hearing about this place for a long time we finally had dinner there ....a big mistake bland waterlogged vegetables, crab cakes totally cold in the center, eggplant parmesan completely inedible, duck l'orange overcooked and covered in some kind of orange marmalade spread. Waitress very nice but never again more

The location is superb. The restaurant is slow getting meals to table, but the wait-staff is very nice, attractive and attentive. The menu was country cooking with a European edge; viandes were perfect but the accompaniments were bland; decent wine list; full bar; Small lake with boating. Hike a nearby rail-trail. All promises rustic comfort; that is until you turn... more

The Starlight Inn was both the most expensive ($200/night) and the lowest quality hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was small, dank, and outdated. The management had not bothered to take care of the most basic repairs in the room. The toilet seat was broken, the shower curtain was covered in mildew, and the bathtub drain was sufficiently... more

We stayed at the Inn one night. It was by far the worst place we have ever stayed! The carpet was old and dirty. We couldn't help but worry about bedbugs. We felt like we were paying way too much, but were stuck since we were picking our children up from camp and all the nicer places were rented. And... more

My wife were travling up state NY and stumbled on the Inn at Lake Starlight. At first we were only going to stay one night, it was so lovely we ended up staying 3 nights! The lake is beautiful!!!!! The food was great and a real nice bar. The owners and their staff were very warm and accommodating. We will... more
