Overall the property is a great idea for the train obsessed, the train goes by, you can wave to the passengers. They have a small lobby, gift shop and indoor arcade area, with a model train display which was not working. We came in at 2:30pm and were told we had to wait until 3pm to check in. It was... More

We booked a one night stay with our four-year-old and 15-month-old. It is a cute place and I'm glad we did it. But I'm not dying to go back. The room was spacious considering you're in a caboose. We had plenty of room to set up a pack-n-play for my daughter. The bathroom was tiny. But again, you're in a... More

I planned a train hunting trip for my 3 yr old, his father & me, and The Red Caboose seemed awesome. I read a ton of reviews, thought the coolness would outweigh the deficits and was just really let down. My son asked to leave repeatedly. The smell of our 'newly remodeled' car was horrible & chemically, there were flies... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience on here. When you had arrived and requested to be moved because you had already stayed in that one. We accommodated that request. We were unaware of any chemical smell that you had experienced. Maintenance was notified that there was no hot water. I'm very sorry that we didn't meet... More

I always wanted to sleep on a train and the Red Caboose Motel made that happen. From check inn to check out the experience was very pleasant. The caboose was fairly clean and very comfortable. The queen bed and the bunks beds were nice to sleep on. The room also had a microwave and refrigerator in it and was very... More

They are old caboose's so understand that and you will enjoy it more. Yes, the décor is outdated as are the TV's, and sure they could use updating...but that isn't why you are staying here... Enjoy the trains! Train museums, train restaurants, train food, train rides, train toys and even a train spa-experience neadby..that is why you stay here. Understand... More

To start, it is a corn field away from Strasburg Railroad and a few miles from Cherry Crest Adventure Farm, Sight and Sound, and Dutch Wonderland. It is so worth stopping here overnight. Our caboose (#1 Wabash) had a double and a set of bunk beds. It is not private and it is not large. It is basically one room... More

We stayed here after dropping my sister off for a Europe trip. I arrived late at night to find our key taped to the front door which was no problem for us. The only issue was we had a very hard time finding out caboose bc they are numbered weird. Room was good for us. We had 3 generations in... More

Depending on where you are from and what you are accustomed to is how you will feel about your stay. I didn't have high expectations being we were staying in a caboose . It was a blizzard when we arrived and we easily checked in with a very friendly knowledgeable host at front desk . Our caboose was freezing when... More

Where do I start with my wonderful review. This is our 2nd time staying in a year and we are already booked for next year. 1st: location is perfect. In the countryside, next to Strasburg railroad and only minutes from downtown. Even have a restaurant in a caboose. So cool. 2nd: cabooses are fantastic. Whether you are a couple or... More
