But the back half will please only the train spotters among us. Liked the staff, liked the room--a great place for the business traveler--and liked the proximity to my meeting in Pittsburgh. The hotel is within an easy walk of a good selection of restaurants, though a small urban desert of new but unleased buildings intervenes. Sure, the mattress was... More

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Springhill Suites South Side Pittsburgh. We appreciate you as a valued guest. Thank you for noticing the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. The hotel is located rather close to the train tracks, as part of the industrial side of the city. I am sorry that the trains... More

This hotel was lovely with only one hitch which I knew ahead of time. The back of it is right next to the railroad tracks. Knowing this, I requested a room in the front which was perfect and had a wonderful view of the river, and we were not bothered by any noise. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable.... More

On one side of the hotel, the trains go by probably every 20 min or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. At times, the windows shook. Having said, we gave 4 stars because the front desk staff (Sam and Lauren) were amazing in moving us to a quieter room - even when it was a fully packed weekend. We were pleased... More

Overall it was very nice. The room was very clean. There were 4 of us in a room with 2 queen beds, a pull out couch and kitchenette. The pullout couch is not the greatest...but wasn't expecting much from that. Continental breakfast was good, eggs, cereals, coffee, fruits, etc.. We drove into downtown Pittsburgh in less than 5 minutes, and... More

We stayed in room 607 and had a nice two night stay here. On check in I made sure to ask for a 'Quiet' room. The clerk put us in this room as it is well away from the train tracks. It faces the river and looks over to Oakland. We liked the Queen/Queen room design. Comfortable beds and bedding.... More

I will tell you the staff was very friendly, breakfast was great, room was very nice. However, the one side of the building is literally feet away from an active train line. The first time I heard a noise, I went running for the window. Yup a train was literally feet away from the wall where our beds were on.... More

The hotel itself is very nice, new and clean. The staff were great and helpful. We had an issue with our heating unit and were switch to another room without issue. The breakfast is very good and plentiful. I would rate the hotel higher except for one thing: it is literally right on top of an active railroad. To minimize... More

There are two things you should know about this property when considering staying in it. First, it is, indeed, so close to the train tracks that the building vibrates when the trains pass. Second, there is parking but it is not free (currently $14/night). There are two aspects to hotel reviews - physical property and staff performance - the latter... More

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Walls are a little thin (I can hear some of my neighbor's conversation) but are still better than many hotels I've stayed at. Good size room, and the internet is working fine. As with another reviewer, i'd give it a 5 if it weren't for the train.

We spent one night here and paid $195, which we thought was way too expensive. Though it is a new hotel, it has many problems. The beds were uncomfortable. the walls were paper thin and we got to intimately share the parenting next door. There were not enough blankets in the room and we were both cold. The worst part, though,... More
