Your quintessential riverside B&B on the Delaware, 1740 House is a great stay just north of nearby New Hope. On-site staff are extraordinarily hospitable, happily offering to light a fire pit for us on the outdoor patio during happy hour when they serve light appetizers and flat-bread pizzas. Coupled with a fully stocked bar and sizable rooms, we settled in... More

Very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and it was my favorite part about staying here. Stayed here for a wedding weekend. Great view of the river. Very clean. My room was cleaned while I was at breakfast and I didn't have to worry about leaving my things out. Hosts are very friendly.

My wife and I stayed here, along with a number of family members, for my daughter's wedding down the road at BB Inn. Richard the owner was incredibly accommodating, allowing me to hold rooms for my family right up to the last minute. The innkeepers really did everything to make us feel "at home". We loved our room (number 6),... More

Dear MS2020, Thank you for the great compliments regarding your stay at the 1740 House. Many guest believe I own the inn. The inn is owned by three local professionals that love the 1740 House and are wonderful to work for. Joe, Ross and Neil create the environment where the employees take ownership of our guest experience and that includes... More

This is a wonderful spot for relaxing and enjoying the countryside. Room was immaculate, very well appointed and nicely decorated. We stayed in #16, which had a wonderful view of the Deleware River from the deck (we saw a bald-eagle zooming up river!) and even though the road outside can be busy, was surprisingly quiet. Bed was super-comfy, top-notch linens... More

Very disappointed! Smelled when we checked in and I feel like all of our clothes now smell. The scent was overpowering. The bedding was old. Carpet was stale too. Wall paper was peeling. Bath sink had a crack in the stopper and pipes were clogged. To top off the weekend, we came back from breakfast and poop was bubbling over... More

I live locally and booked a room for relatives who were visiting from out of town. Reservations were speedy and friendly. My sister and her hubby were extremely happy with the room. It was charmingly decorated, roomy, and immaculate. The a/c worked great on a hot and humid day. They made good use of the terrace, and while enjoying the... More

Thank You for the compliments, I will be sure to tell the staff how much your sister enjoyed the inn. Besides the hummingbirds and toads I know our guest are greeted throughout the day by the resident catbird. Recently it's mate and siblings have join in the greeting of guest. But be careful it is very tame and will join... More

Did I say great, yet??? My wife and 'i have stayed at many a B&B on the east and this has been our best experience ever. When I saw all the rave reviews I was interested for sure but was reluctant to believe fully how good it was. When we arrived, early, we were welcomed very graciously, and was told... More

Just a few short miles from historic New Hope nestled along the banks of the Delaware river lies one of the most romantic bed and breakfast inns I have ever visited. We stayed here for a wedding which was at the "sister place" called Holly Hedge. My husband and I traveled to the Doylestown area for our 10 year anniversary. We wanted to stay somewhere more authentic than a regular hotel but all the B & B's in Doylestown were booked. Thank You for the many compliments you shared on your posting. Most bed and breakfast do not operate like a chain hotel with 24 hour attendant at the reception area.
