Went for a wonderful weekend to enjoy the wonders of Bucks County. The hotel is situated on a perfect spot along the Delaware with sweeping views up and down the river; it is a great hideaway and while the prices are a bit high, if you want a private, warm and cozy bed & breakfast you can't ask for anything... more

My wife and I try to stay at the 1740 House at least once a year. It is one of those rare places where you spend a weekend and return home feeling relaxed like after a week long vaction. Over the years I have stayed in perhaps 6 or 7 of the guest rooms and each room has been decorated... more

We stayed here years ago and decide not to return as there were many nicer places to stay, but few have the view here. So after checking Trip Advisor and seeing there was new ownership we decided to try it again and we found things much improved. Rooms are much brighter and cleaner and although I wouldn't have minded the... more

We stayed at the 1740 House for one night in mid-August 2009 in two rooms with our teenage daughters, after a campus visit at Princeton University, which is 30 minutes away. We liked the proximity (5 minute walk) to the Black Bass Hotel, where we enjoyed a 4 star dinner. Nice old suspension footbridge across the Delaware river, right at... more

My wife and I have been to a few B&B's, and the 1740 House is our favorite so far. We have been to the very highly rated Mainstay Inn in Cape May, NJ, which we fell in love with, but we both agree that we have a new favorite. The most notable part of our weekend getaway was that we... more

Having visited the 1740 House almost every year since 1991, we have seen this lovely inn through several changes since Harry Nessler first was innkeeper. While it has always been a favorite inn of ours, its new innkeepers, Shaun and Linda Buckler with their son, David, have taken the 1740 to a new level of excellence. They are gracious hosts... more

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in July 2009. The inn is even lovelier than pictured and innkeepers Shaun & Linda were helpful but not invasive. The area is beautiful and much more peaceful than nearby New Hope. Our room (#15) was cute and had a great river view. There were many other guests but we still... more

I had stayed here awhile ago and was disappointed. However, there are new innkeepers and a tremendous improvement. The location is fabulous as each room is facing and practically on the Delaward River. The hotel grounds are well maintained and there is a pool. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast is included and is almost gourmet in quality.... more

My husband and I just celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary with a wonderful weekend getaway at the 1740 House and we enjoyed everything about our stay! The B&B and its surroundings are fantastic! The innkeepers, Shaun and Linda, add so much to an already remarkable place. The breakfast prepared by Linda was delicous and we really enjoyed eating on the... more

Once again 1740 House does not disappoint. This is our second trip this year and it just keeps getting better. After catching up with the innkeepers, Shaun and Linda, we ran into another couple that we met our previous stay and told us they'd been there twice since. We also met another great couple we became friendly with and decided... more
