I live locally and booked a room for relatives who were visiting from out of town. Reservations were speedy and friendly. My sister and her hubby were extremely happy with the room. It was charmingly decorated, roomy, and immaculate. The a/c worked great on a hot and humid day. They made good use of the terrace, and while enjoying the... More

Did I say great, yet??? My wife and 'i have stayed at many a B&B on the east and this has been our best experience ever. When I saw all the rave reviews I was interested for sure but was reluctant to believe fully how good it was. When we arrived, early, we were welcomed very graciously, and was told... More

Thank you for sharing your 1740 House story on Tripadvisor. It is always a pleasure to hear that our guest love what we are doing. (A little secret) we love doing what we do and it probably shows. I will pass onto the staff that you found the room clean and breakfast spectacular. As for the view, we have a... More

Just a few short miles from historic New Hope nestled along the banks of the Delaware river lies one of the most romantic bed and breakfast inns I have ever visited. Each room has its own special character, all of which overlook the scenic river front. Richard the inn keeper and his wife make certain that you feel like a... More

We stayed here for a wedding which was at the "sister place" called Holly Hedge. We were made to feel extremely welcome and the check-in was at 2:00 which was wonderful for getting ready for a 4:00 wedding. They supplied a shuttle to and from the wedding and the breakfast the next morning was absolutely FABULOUS! There was everything for... More

The 1740 House and Hollyhedge Estates is a perfect combinations of inn's that cater to local and destination wedding groups. It is always a pleasure to share the comments from our guest to staff and see what we do great and where we need to make sure we are not falling short. I will into the concern of smells and... More

My husband and I traveled to the Doylestown area for our 10 year anniversary. We wanted to stay somewhere more authentic than a regular hotel but all the B & B's in Doylestown were booked. We were referred to the 1740 House and after looking at their website, booked a 5 night stay. We arrived after 10:00pm and the innkeepers... More

Thank You for the many compliments you shared on your posting. Most bed and breakfast do not operate like a chain hotel with 24 hour attendant at the reception area. Tammy and I live on site and while we do go home (our commute is 62 footsteps to the office), we will always available for late night needs and concerns.... More

We had not been to the 1740 House for quite a few years, but the property is still wonderful and the new innkeepers are most helpful. All the rooms face the river -- we like the upstairs view --and there are plenty of outdoor/indoor places to relax. Our room was spacious and tasteful. The bar, which operates like a club... More

We love to hear from guest returning to the 1740 House and still finding it as lovely as in the past. Your compliments reassure us that we are doing it right in the 1740 House tradition. I will be sure to let Tricia know the Coconut Shrimp was a hit. Cheers Richard L Innkeeper More

I stayed at the 1740 house over the weekend because I had a crawfish party to go to that was close by. I'm not from the area so I needed to spend the night. The innkeeper greeted me when I came in and she showed me my room and gave me a great tour. She really made me feel welcome.... More

We have a special fondness for the 1740 House, going back to when the original owner, Harry, presided. The inn is very well maintained, the innkeepers Richard and Tammy are more than gracious, and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. The site is beautiful and every room faces the Delaware. Dinner at the Black Bass next door is consistently... More

Decided to surprise my girlfriend with a weekend getaway and this place delivered beyond my expectations.
