How wonderful to be welcomed back by the melodic, celebratory howling of wolves. As we were being shown to the Paymaster's Office, a cottage on the grounds of Speedwell Forge Lodge, our friends the wolves serenaded us. Just the best beginning to an amazing birthday weekend. The cottage itself is warm, comfortable and peaceful. It overlooks a lovely stream. The... More

This B&B is an absolute must. It is nestled in a serene location on acres of gorgeous land. The rooms are impeccable and the owner, Dawn, is beyond friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also delicious. Plus, the Wolf sanctuary is right on the property. This is a must!

This was our first B&B experience and I must say Dawn has set the bar high! You really feel at home here! Both the house and grounds are meticulously cared for. We spent a long anniversary/birthday weekend and must say we'll be back... With friends!

If we had to pick the most amazing part of our stay here we would be hard-pressed to answer. Was it the fabulous "Paymaster's" cottage with two person jacuzzi tub and fireplace? Was it the superb organic breakfasts and company in the main house each morning? Or was it the walk through the wolf sanctuary on a moonlit night? I... More

My wife and I just completed a two night stay at Speedwell Forge, and we are so pleased with our stay. Dawn greeted us and provided with all the necessary information that was needed to ensure a comfortable visit. We certainly felt welcomed from the start. The inn and grounds were a quiet and tranquil respite from our busy life.... More

This B&B is a house built in 1760 and lovingly restored by its owner, Dawn. It is beautifully decorated and meticulously clean, yet has a warm and comfortable vibe. Dawn explained the 'no shoe policy' in her confirmation email, so we were prepared with slippers/socks. When we saw the beautiful floors, we fully understood. Dawn prepares a wonderful 3-course breakfast... More

We stayed in one of the houses on the property-it was marvelous. Can't wait to return. The people are the greatest and the breakfasts are not to be missed. Of course we were there to see the wolves in the sanctuary and it was the best couple of days I have had in a long time. THe house had every... More

My husband and I arrived around 4pm on a Friday for a 2-night stay in the "Paymaster's Office" cottage. As we pulled in to a space in front of the main building, the front door opened and we were greeted by one of the resident innkeepers, Dawn, an easy going, charming, garrulous host, ready with a fount of information about... This place was recommended by a couple we met at another B&B last year. The place is beautiful, room is very nice but the hosts are not exactly what I consider welcoming or warm -- which is what I expect from a B&B.

We stayed here in May and it was a unique and thoroughly pleasurable experience. One is aware constantly, in both the house and its grounds and outbuildings, of the layers of history that exist here in this spot. The beautiful stone house has been lovingly and respectfully restored to its former colonial nature. We stayed in "Kathryn's Room" and felt... More
