This was my first time to a Bed and Breakfast. It was fantastic! The inn keeprs were very friendly and welcoming. The place is immaculate. We go to Lancaster every year for my husbands Christmas party and make it our little get away weekend. We had a completely relaxing stay at King's Cottage with Janus and Ann as our hosts. Their warmth and sincere kindness was felt the moment we entered their inn. From the moment we entered the King's Cottage and were greeted so warmly by Ann (& Samson!) we knew we had picked a winner!! From the beautiful home, to the many amenities, to our gorgeous, but equally comfortable and cozy room (The Majestic Chamber), we felt relaxed and refreshed and at home. Although we stayed in the heart of Lancaster in this beautiful, well maintained B and B, but the Kings cottage innkeepers "heart" were cold and distant, turning off lights, the fireplace in the living room and ultimately us. The room, breakfast and hot tub was as promised but not the hospitality we have come to expect in a Select Registry... more
On rare occasions, an innkeeper’s actions are unfortunately construed differently than intentioned. Most likely this is due to miscommunication. When we find a blazing living room fireplace left unattended with the glass doors closed we turn it off and open the doors for safety purposes. When our guests returned and were disappointed the fire was turned off, we apologized, immediately...
My husband I attended a Select Registry meeting in Lancaster and I was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to stay at King's Cottage. I have long admired it from looking at it in the Select Registry book and on their web site. Happily, we were not disappointed and we are probably a little more finicky than the average traveler.... more

King's Cottage was a lovely respite for me & my husband. We had a relaxing weekend there Nov. 2009. We stayed in the Cottage House, which is a separate building from the B&B proper. This was our first trip to Lancaster County and Amish Country. We found this wonderfull B&B through Select Registry and were thrilled with the experience. We are glad you enjoyed your trip to Lancaster and a stay with us. The Contessa is one of our smaller rooms and many like it for the private entrance and personal outside seating area.
