YES, quite wonderful, BUT...........yes and BUT, the room was small and quite inadequate AND entirely overpriced. Sadly, the large and poorly patronised restaurant didn't make up for the inadequacies, although the food and attention by staff was excellent. Nevertheless, we had a very happy and relaxing time looking out over Wellington and just "chilling-out", however we believe that we could... More

This is a beautiful place, on a hill overlooking the town of Wellington. The room was in the old nurses' quarters and was tastefully decorated and appointed. Unfortunately it was also a tad on the small side ( only one bedside table - not enough room for another one) the ensuite bathroom was very nice and almost the same size... More

We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate a major milestone birthday for my sister. We had never heard or known of Hermitage Hill, but do now and love it. What a charming, cosy & peaceful place. Being the old Wellington Hospital, built in 1904, it is full of history and delightfully restored & renovated. We spend a night in... More

Great location, beautiful character laden buildings from an external perspective. What looks great from the outside and has some age is reflected on the inside. Clean - yes, otherwise still work in progress. Broken window furnishings, paint cracked and flaking on walls. Room security questionable, room cramped. Owners are working hard to bring the place up to a good standard,... More

We had a great long weekend here. Our two year old loved the Kangaroos hopping through the grounds and the neighbours cows and sheep which came up to the fence to talk to us. The pool was a welcome relief on an unusually warm weekend. We booked a spa suite which was huge - and after putting our son to... More

Peaceful, relaxing accomodation in a nostalgic, historic setting. Nigel and Lyn were very welcoming and obliging. We stayed in the old Nurses Quarters in an ensuited room which opened onto a beautiful wide verandah with pleasant views. Spacious and well appointed ensuite, room was on the smaller side but the verandah provided ample living space. Inground pool was only a... More

We were on a long drive to Orange, and stopped with about an hour to go to use the facilities at the Tourist Information Office in Wellington. When we learned that there were some interesting caves nearby and a grand old guesthouse in a converted hospital up on the hill, we felt we had to stop and spend the night.... More

My husband and I stayed here last night for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We could not have been happier. The new owners Lynn and Nigel were so lovely, they showed us around the beautiful old buildings and made us feel so welcome. We ate at the restaurant for dinner, the meals were very big and delicious and the wait staff... More

Have just spent (another) night night at Hermitage Hill, the old Public Hospital built in 1908 but which became derelict in the 1980s. Fortunately a benefactor bought her and re-vitalised her as a B&B and Function Centre, but she is unfortunately beginning to show signs of her age again. We first visited not long after David and Alison took over,... More

This grand dame of better times is splendid to behold as you come through the gates. It was a bustingly hot day - tipping 40 degrees - and the coolness of the guest house was very welcome. The rooms we had were well appointed and very comfortable with some of the crispest, nicest linen. They are of course old rooms... More
