We stayed New Years Eve and found it to be a fab location for what we wanted to do for the weekend which was to enjoy the band in the village square last night and then take a walk up Mt Kosciuszko this morning.
The downside was the cardboard thin walls and doors. We could hear every single noise our...

The tourist information office in Thredbo village recommended this hotel and it's "Discover Thredbo" package for $199 inclusive of room, breakfast and chairlift pass and it is really great value! The hotel is older and rooms smaller but they're oh so comfortable and cosy (love that king bed)! Our top floor room was conveniently located near the back door at...

I stayed at the hotel earlier this month with my wife and friends from the USA.
It is in a great position to access the chairlift up the mountain as well as all the facilities of Thredbo Village.
The rooms and bathrooms are small, but you are not there to sit in the room - you are there to go...

We recently spent one night in this hotel. It was built in the early 60's, and apparently nothing has been done to the accommodation since then. The room was small with depressing pine panelling. The bathroom was small with seemingly the original fittings. There seems to be no provision for the disabled, which I find surprising. The breakfast was horrible....

Dear Maureen056,
I am dissapointed that you were not satisfied with your experience. This alpine hotel, built with an alpine chalet style feel to it with wood paneling and a cozy warm atmosphere was built in the 60's and has had many upgrades over the year, including most recently, new carpet throughout and new flat screen TV's. Every Summer we...

Have stayed here a number of times over the years, most recently this month. Personally, I love that it's not wall to wall slickness - I like its faded 60s ski resort glam, but understand that for those not familiar with the feel of the early days of Australian skiing, it must seem a bit shabby.
It is poor value...

Dear sasanqua,
Thanks for your review. I am pleased that you appreciate the character and charm our alpine hotel, set amongst the snowgums. It truely does have a alpine feel and tranquility to it, especially during the low season. I apologise that the Pub menu does not meet you tastes, the menu is designed to be a simple pub meal...

Older style and small rooms... But very comfortable , bed was great one of the best. The shower was great after a long day on the bike. The restrauant requires a special mention (dinner only) the selection of wines and food was comprehensive and the service excellent. Breakfast was crap buffet style and was cold the last thing you need...

Dear Macbrowndog,
Thanks for your review. I am pleased you enjoyed the rooms and our wonderful Dreambeds. We take great pride in the food and beverage experience at Thredbo, obviously breakfast has let us down in the past. We plan to reinvigorate this moving forward with a fresh new breakfast menu and offering for our valued guests. The good news...

The rooms are (too) small and desperately need modernising (as does the rest of the hotel).
All in all, an average hotel in every aspect but the staff are very good. I would stay here again as the excellent service does make up for some of the short- comings.

Dear Aus78,
Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. I am pleased that you enjoyed the service during your stay. Whilst the hotel was built in the 60's we do our best to keep it in good order and modernised with LCD TV's etc, the majority of our guests enjoy the alpine charm, character and cozy feeling that...

We grabbed a last minute deal on wot if so payed better rates. It's location is great and easy to access. BF was included and is usual buffet but they were happy to make us some eggs and was all of a good standard.
The bar doesn't serve or organise any food which we find poor. They couldn't certainly make...

Dear Scottdamion,
Thanks for your review. I appreciate your feedback and am pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall. In regards to the Lounge Bar not serving food, we have tried this on a number of occassions but normally it is not requested as most people use that bar either before or after dinner. However on the odd occassion that...

My partner took me for a surprise trip to the mountains and we stayed at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel for 3 nights. I had read very contradictory reviews about the place and heard that it had been unchanged since the 50s so I expected a somewhat mediocre accommodation. But no, this place is absolutely great! We had a wonderful view...
