This hotel needs a serious update (read kick up the backside). It charges 4 to 5 star prices but the rooms are seriously outdated, if not dilapidated. It is very clean and the breakfast and service is fair, but the whole place is stuck in the seventies.

We rode in at about 5 after a long day on the bikes and it was a welcome sight to see some snow on the high mountain peaks but none on the road we were riding on. The reception staff were very polite, friendly and made sure we felt welcomed. We completed all the formalities and then off to our... More

Hotel is quite comfortable and in prime position in Thredbo. Summer in Thredbo is relatively quiet but great time for walking in the mountains. Hotel is close to lifts and provides a very good breakfast.

We enjoyed a great three days away at the old but clean and comfy Alpine Hotel. We had a great divided room with old fashioned but quaint decor. It was quite a hike to our room and we were told that we had to take our bags ourselves....which was not an easy task. The included breakfast was really great and... More

This hotel or the Alpine Apartments are the only place to say at Thredbo. Inexpensive (relatively), sauna, hot spa outside and great views on the slopes. Good parking and, quite often, live music and drinks around the pool (sort of heated).

In mid April my wife and I had a four day get away from Mollymook to the Snowy Mountains for my 70th Birthday. We stayed two nights at Rydges Thredbo Alpine Hotel followed by two nights at the Clifton Suites in Canberra before we returned home. I have already furnished a review of the latter and also of the Ottoman... More

We have been going there since the late sixties so that must tell you something about its age. The original building had no architectural charm, but the 'new' extension added around 1970 at least gave it some visual character. Since then, very little has changed. The rooms have been refurbed and refurbed and it shows. The older original section is... More

The Thredbo Alpine Hotel (TAH to its friends) is an institution in the Australian Alps. I first went there in the '70s when it was a state-of-the-art resort hotel, especially for an Australian ski resort. Basically, TAH hasn't changed much since then - it's been maintained reasonably well but it's still basically a '70s-style hotel. To people who haven't grown... More

We arrived well after dark from a long day on the road. Very comfortable place to sleep. The restaurant staff were particularly efficient and pleasant - I think quite genuinely and not just put on. One surprising lack of facilities at this time of year is access to a good drying space for wet clothes. I suppose plenty of other... More
