Wanted a relaxing break for a milestone birthday and Lord Howe delivered. Pine Trees was as expected, basic old fashioned accommodation (the rooms are very basic - almost 1950's but renovations are planned in May/June), full board with good and sometimes great food. The island is unique - you cycle everywhere, the bush walking fairly demanding and if you want... More

I wanted a few days away from mobile phones and internet with no responsibilities for food or board and not too far away. I live near Port Macquarie and am in my late seventies and Pinetrees was perfect. All meals were included and the quality of the food was excellent. A cut lunch was provided for days out. The lodge... More

We were so pleased to have chosen Pinetrees for our first stay on Lord Howe Island. We were looking at other accommodation trying to decide, but now that we have been there, this would be our first and only choice every time. The location is perfect with the Boathouse right on the beach, so close to go for a walk... More

The first thing to note is this is an old fashioned family owned and run guest house not a resort.- charming, great staff who go out of the way to be helpful, fabulous food etc so don't go here expecting Bedarra. Once you are over that hurdle, WOW. Location, food, service are outstanding. Some in our group of 6 found... More

We have never been to Lord Howe before, and therefore had no idea what to expect from either the island or Pinetrees, so initially were a little surprised to find the accommodation so low-key and basic (for the cost). But our room was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed, so we ended up feeling that not having any of... More

While we loved our Lord Howe Island holiday & Pinetrees in particular,I would advise caution with regard to the travel insurance recommended by Pinetrees. They were very difficult to deal with & denied our claim, even though we were out of pocket for a full day's accommodation ($510)The reason being did have a bed on the night in question which... A very special place. The upper management staff are attentive and know everyone by name. The meals (included) were a fine dining experience and include a delectable dessert bar. They often had drinks and canapés at the boat shed across the road where guests mingled. One of those rare places that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

We have followed in my parents footsteps in finding Lord Howe a heaven on earth! Pinetrees is in an ideal location - a few steps from the lagoon & walking distance from both ends of the island (trust me, as a non bike rider I've walked the length & breadth of the island!) The accommodation, although not luxurious, is clean... More

Beautiful beaches and scenery, abundant bird and sea life, little traffic, virtually no mobile phone or internet coverage, don't lock your doors but the resort offers great food, friendly service and comfortable accommodation.

Recently returned from Lord Howe and our stay at Pinetrees was an absolute delight. The staff were absolutely beautiful, attentive, sharing and professional at all times. Congratulations to Danielle and the whole team. The kitchen staff were culinary magicians, the food fresh and at most times simply magnificent. Accommodation is a little 70's but you spend little time in your... More
