Great self contained units. Have microwave for cooking but you can borrow an electric fry pan or use the b-b-q. Good Eco thinking used in the units and throughout the island. Very easy stroll to Thompsons store, the Co -op or Joys for supplies. Bus to various restaurants and then the venue has return buses. Staff leave you to enjoy... More

My husband and I stayed in one of these apartments last June for a week. We received a friendly welcome at the airport, then given a brief drive around a couple of the popular places to get our bearings before being taken to our accommodation. Although we had scanned the coloured brochure well before booking and were expecting this accommodation... More

We stayed in Somerset because we were getting special deals. It is nice room with huge en-suite. The bathroom is pretty much same size as the room. It has a kitchen with microwave, couple of pans. You can ask for electric pan from the reception. Lord Howe Island being an Island eating food at restaurants for breakfast, lunch & dinner... More

I stayed here with some friends, Somerset Apartments are located very close to the 'CBD' (ha, ha). So it's great to get to a couple of the shops, the island phone, lagoon and Neds beach. It's also just up a gentle slope so no heart-attack hill involved. The units are clean and comfortable - don't expect the latest fixtures and... More

My unit was just a studio, which was rather small but as my flight was delayed I had an extra night and was in a 1BR large unit which was very comfortable. Was collected by Nobbs at the airport, brother-in-law of owner Gae. He is a real character, after seeing him around the town felt like I'd known him all... More

We found our unit very comfortable. Frangipani units are right at the back - you don't have to wander through the complex to find it - you can simply walk up the driveway. The adjoining walls are thin but we were lucky not to have noisy neighbours. It wasn't school holiday time. Walk one direction to Ned's Beach or other... More

A really good location that is central to most activities a few restaurants and the local bike hire which you may need if staying for more than a few days. I chose a superior room and it was a little under whelming. It left me wondering if the standard rooms were comfier. The room itself was well furnished with what... More

These apartments are quite dated but I think it actually added to the charm of the island. It really is like stepping back in time with no mobile phones, a trust system that expects people to do the right thing and very friendly locals who always wave and say hello. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the verandah looking at the... More

We recently stayed at Somerset with our 10 month old and were impressed by how easy staying at Somerset was. Travel cot with fresh linen, high chair, pram, baby bath and nappy bucket were all ready and waiting for us on our arrival. The kitchen facilities had everything we needed and the recently renovated bathroom (in H14) was so spacious... More

Stayed for 7 days with a group. Everything about Somerset worked really well. Simple apartments were spotlessly clean and in a great location. Central to all activities and right near the great Anchorage restaurant for coffee, breakfast, takeaway lunch rolls or dinner. Apartment kitchen had all the necessary equipment such as drink bottles and backpack. We had superior room with... More
