We didn't stay there, but as our boutique motel was boring we wandered over to the grand to hang out for the evening and it was good. Nice old world building, good selection of drinks - the televisions were placed to that they were not visible and audible throughout the place, there was a lounge with comfortable seating, the locals... I am gobsmacked this hotel is allowed to operate, dirty stained rooms and sheets and towels, Dressing table is a sheet of ply offcut with a mirror stuck on it. The showers were filthy, I wasnt game to eat there. And to top it off I fell down on the dark steep stairs and injured my ankle which has required... More

In this day and age you would think that when you book a single room in a local pub, you would get a room, a bed, a cabinet, a sink and a power point. Well, I was mistaken. My room had no cabinet, no sink, no power point and the gents shared toiletry facility was nothing more than a shower,... More

We have stayed in quite a few pubs over the years. Something that we generally enjoy whenever we head away on the motorbike; but this was certainly not the case with this pub. It may have been a grand place many many moons ago, but now just needs to be gutted and a serious overhaul. Even the bar area is... More

I told the boyfriend to check trip advisor before he booked... He didn't... In any case, we had advised the "grand" that we would be arriving at 10 pm... When we arrived, of course, it was shut. After much banging, and maybe a couple of tired-tears on my behalf, we found a staff member to check us into our "room"... More

For the first time in about 5 years, I paid for a room without consulting TripAdvisor. Murphy's Law - it ended badly. I have stayed in dodgy hotels a plenty, in Rome, in Cambodia, in Far North Queensland... all the ends of the earth. None of them was bad enough that I wanted to leave: until this one. There is... CHEAP & NASTY!! Could hardly get into our room from how small it was , barely fitted the double bed that was in there! Nailed shut window, our towels had stains that looked like dry old blood, stains all over the floor, every wall had cracks through it, wires hanging from one of the walls. & Wasn't brave enough to... Understandably an old hotel, but did not expect to be shown to a room where the window was nailed shut! There was no way I could sleep in that room with 3 children in the height of summer. We moved to another room which I was then told was an additional $50, which I refused to pay! This room was... More

This is 'pub accommodation' which adds a new meaning to the word basic. Avoid unless you are destitute. On the more positive side it was quiet by the time we went to bed, the toilets and shower rooms were functional and Kiama itself is a lovely little town. I'm surprised no one has bothered to invest in the hotel which... More

When we arrived we where pointed up stairs to our room by a very disinterested staff member which should have been our first warning sign but after navigating the maze of upstairs we finally found our rooms and what lied behind the doors was the best surprise yet. In our room was a double and two singles with all the... More
