I adore Bangalow, I adore the pace (or lack thereof) and the atmosphere- and was rather surprised to find myself in a pub with city attitudes and temperament- precisely what I was trying to escape! The menu was deliciously varied. The gourmet aspect of the menu was enticing- however my family and I were craving a pub meal - perhaps... More

lunched here today with a friend After getting a table at the restaurant as opposed to the bar, I tried to order my food I was quickly directed back to my table to order so I returned and tried to order some wine with food I was then cutely advised to order my wine at the bar because I could... busy Friday night, without a booking we waited 30mins.starter the rabbit terrine, epic followed by,sticky pork belly salad for the lady, delicious. myself thoroughly enjoyed the mussels,so fresh just out of the sea and also the fillet of beef, with broc, spud and mushroom ragu. if Byron's busy and over run, peaceful drive into the hinterland, you won't be disappointed

When the tourist traffic in Byron Bay gets too much this is a great option. A short drive from Byron Bay and a step up in relaxed, quality dining. I started with oysters served with a sorbe topping. Worked well. Mains were good. Whilst you have to buy your wine from he bar (curiously no table service) the wine and... More

Arrived at restaurant half an hour early to our booking, but as it was quiet there was no problem in seating us early. However, it would have been better if we had not been left standing at the entrance, next to the board that says "Wait to be Seated" while staff faffed around and ignored us. When we did get... More

I was surprised to see other reviewers negative comments on this fantastic, characterful pub. For 70 dollars you get to stay in a simple but clean room, bed linen was of a high quality, crisp and white. Some rooms have french doors opening on to a shared baclony overlooking the high street. Bathroom facilities are shared but again, I found... More

We've been to this Pub several times to enjoy the steak Sandwiches. The food is very well priced. The place does operate on a small number of staff .We've found the quality to be higher than most International Hotels.

They insisted on a two night minimum but in their guest book there are many one night visits. The room was tiny, not even a fan with one tiny window that couldn't be opened safely, The amenities were disgusting and the service average. It is an old tired pub charging high prices and its gets away because of location and... More

We quickly discovered that if you want decent grub in Byron Bay you actually need to go to Bangalow 15 minutes drive away. Lovely town with loads of great eateries and boutique shops catering to chi chi middle aged hippy types (bare feet, roll ups, ethnic clothing etc though undoubtedly top of the range sports coupes and second / third... The website is very artfully constructed to make this place look like a boutique hotel, all soft focus and colonial furniture. In fact it's an old-fashioned and completely unrestored pub with pokies and live music downstairs, and (unless our room was an aberration) completely unrestored bedrooms haunted by generations of commercial travellers upstairs. 'Our rooms are simple, but elegant and... More
