We live approx. 15 miles away from The Nare & on a lovely sunny day in April my partner took me to Carne Beach (the first time I had ever been to this beach) & we decided to go into hotel for afternoon coffee. It was brilliant - lovely coffee & scrummy biscuits & views to die for from the... More

This is the best hotel we have stayed in. Yes there are more modern hotels and there are cheaper hotels but the Nare is simply fantastic. It is impossible to convey in a review, you simply need to stay to find out! We stayed with my three year old son, nothing was too much trouble. The staff are excellent, without... More

We were visiting Carne Beach and stopped here for a cream tea. Despite the fact that they didn't really serve cream teas until 3pm (it was 2.30) we were asked if we would mind waiting until the scones were out of the oven, which we didn't as it was a lovely day and worth sitting on the balcony of the... It was my birthday & my husband had booked a special treat - a sea view meal in the Quarterdeck at the Nare Hotel. Sadly we couldn't have been further from the view, right at the back of the restaurant. One of the waiters crashed into the back of my chair but there was no apology & later he proceeded... More

We were staying elsewhere and our 'host' recommended the Nare as a place to go for a drink. It was obvious by the reception that we received at the Nare that we were not welcome. We were looked up and down as if we were tramps. The head waiter was quite abrupt with us and certainly looked down his nose... More

We were recommended to visit here for lunch and watch the sailing boats out in the bay. Sounded great until we walked in and were given a very snooty 'greeting' by the head waiter (I'm sure he'd rather be referred to as a Maitre d') and looked up and down as if we had just walked in from the local... We had two nights at the Nare. On arrival we were informed we had been upgraded as we were new guests. Beautiful suite with double views from the balcony and a separate sitting room. A great start. The staff were lovely and from the traditional school of hosting. Food was, on the whole, excellent ( mountains of clotted cream). 4pm... More

This is the ultimate place to relax and leave refreshed. The service is fabulous - the staff genuinely take care of you. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is out of this world, from the great breakfast to the clotted cream tea ( the fruit cake is splendid) and the evening meal which consists of so many wonderful courses.... More

I have been visiting the Nare for several years and have enjoyed meals both at the Quarterdeck and in the main restaurant. On this occasion, I was a guest of relatives from overseas for Sunday lunch. Service, as always, was delightful and food plentiful. Two of us took the roast beef from the trolley and were disappointed to find that... More

After an exhausting summer we arrive at the Nare. As soon as I climbed out of the car I was greeted with an offer of a cup of tea before I unloaded the luggage. I knew I had come to the right place. As expected the service was first class, the bedrooms what I expected. I thoroughly recommend the Nare... More
