Old Victorian hotel right on Lizard point, peaceful and awe inspiring views of the sea. Good kitchen and dining area (self catering only) If you want to eat elsewhere a 10-15 minute walk to the village shop, pubs and bus stop.

YHA Lizard has an enviable location overlooking Lizard Point and for a coast lover like myself made for the most perfect coastal retreat. Easy access to some fabulous walks both on the coast path and inland footpaths. I used my stay to walk the section of the coast path between Porthleven and Cadgwith but will definitely return to explore the area. The self catering facilities provided all you could need and the spacious lounge and dining room area made the stay comfortable. The drying room was great for those wet and muddy boots. I was lucky enough to have the comfortable dorm to myself which shared the same fabulous views as the communal rooms. The bathrooms were very clean and functional. The hostel manager Chris was very friendly and helpful and I'm looking forward to returning and enjoying the view from the lovely gardens overlooking the sea. See you again soon!…

We stayed in an ensuite room with an unbeatable view of the sea given the fantastic location of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed. As with other youth hostels though, the value for money compared to other local accommodation isn't great.

Thank you for your review, I'm sorry you felt that value for money was not comparable to other local accommodation. We do try to remain competitive in the area. For the best rates book direct through YHA. Booking through third party websites such as Booking.com makes it more expensive. Also take out YHA membership which supports our charitable work supporting young people and gives you a discount on your stay with us. YHA Lizard is uniquely located and it is difficult to compare with other providers locally.

Lovely hostel with warm rooms with adequate access to cooking and washing facilities. the lounge was a welcome area to relax in. Great for family break. Will definitely be trying more hostels with and without our 3 kids.

What a stunning location! The hostel is right next to the coast, with exceptional views, and a an access path to the coast. The facilities provided were great, the communal kitchen contained everything you would need, and everything was clean and well maintained. The double bed sagged in the middle which I struggled with, but the location, value, and friendliness of staff made up for that.

Sorry to hear that your bed sagged, we will see what we can do to work out which bed this was and rectify this for future guests. As we don't sleep on the beds very often, so we sometimes don't know about these things until guests bring them to our attention. Thanks for your lovely review

Stayed here at the beginning of a cycling trip. Basic but lovely. Of note the shop at the YHA is no longer open and local shops close early so make plans for dinner and breakfast. A lovely place to stay. Bike storage provided.

We do still try and have some food items available for sale to guests however with the shops in the village we increasingly do not find that guests require this facility so stock is very limited and does run out. It is not something that guest should rely on as their sole option for food. Thanks for your review

Everything is super clean and very friendly staff. I arrived a few hours ahead of the check-in time but was let in and checked-in anyway, I was super happy! The location is just amazing and perfect to take hikes along the coast.

As a 56 yr old, I was unsure of booking in at a YOUTH Hostel, but shouldn't of been concerned, great cross section of ages and made very welcome. A superb location as well right on the SW Coast Path which we have now just completed. We also stayed at the Caverack Hostel which is conveniently along the coast which again was superb with the added bonus of supplying meals, also a great days walk away so makes for a great combined two night stay.

Its important for us to have a cross section of ages and types of people stay with us. This enhances the experience for younger people when staying in YHA. At YHA Lizard we definitely have variety of people, young and old staying from all over the world!

We booked 2 beds in the dorm 3 months in advance directly with YHA. Our friend booked about a week in advance for the same dates with Bookings.com. He paid 16 GBP and we paid 21 GBP each. Despite YHA's claim that it's cheaper to book direct with YHA.....

YHA is a charity so the extra £5 that you paid helps us to help young people :) YHA site is always cheaper at the time of booking because Booking.com charge us commission on all bookings made through their site. If you both booked at the same time your stay would have been cheaper than theirs. Also YHA members booking through Booking.com cannot claim their membership discount. There are all sorts of reasons why prices fluctuate but f you need specific dates it is better to book in advance as the beds/rooms may sell out, especially at YHA Lizard!
