This is a lovely period hotel with the best view in Cornwall, if not the UK. We have stayed many times, and the owners and staff have always been very friendly and helpful. The only slight criticism I would make at the moment is that the A La Carte dinner menu is somewhat 'over-engineered', with the more 'normal' dishes listed... More

Just popped in off the coast path for lunch and had the best crab sandwich ever. Husband had club sandwich which he said was delicious. Sandwiches were served with nicely dressed salad garnish and good quality crisps. We couldn't resist a portion of chips too as they are always fantastic and we weren't disappointed. Accompanied by a crisp sauvignon blanc... More

This was our second trip to Housel Bay the first being on our honeymoon in 1986. We loved it as it was just what we expected. The hotel stands proudly atop the glorious cliffs overlooking the lighthouse and has a character that you are just not going to get in a modern hotel. This has history and a wonderful feel... More

We trekked up the lizard and stopped for a refreshing cider at Housel Bay. Beautiful view on a sunny day and was well enjoyed by the lot of us. The cliffside hotel is a classic beauty and we're making a point of staying a night or two next time we're in Cornwall.

We arrived and were met with a lovely welcome from the managers friend who checked us in with no problems and advised us we had been upgraded free of charge. Our room was very small and very dated the bed was too high an too small, te shelf fell off the wall when I tried to put my book on... More

Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to review your stay, we appreciate all feedback, be it positive or negative. It was with regret to hear that you found the room to be very small, however the Hotel is 120 years old and the rooms still remain how they always have done and we have no... More

We come here for Sunday lunch every year and although chefs come and go the standard is always the same - great. The two (Polish?) waitresses were charming and efficient and always smiling. I had Caesar salad with anchovies (not tinned) and roast beef, the beef was tender, Yorkshire pudd crispy, the best roast potatoes I have tasted for ages... More

We visited Housel Bay Hotel yesterday (21 Sept 2014) for coffee and liked it so much that we stayed on for lunch. The welcome from the two charming waitresses was as warm and friendly as could be. In fact, the service from them throughout was absolutely faultless. The Sunday Lunch menu was exceptionally good value and all the food delicious.... More

We stopped at the Housel Bay hotel after a walk round the coastal path and had the most wonderful time sitting in the sun on the terrace enjoying the view over the bay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food absolutely delicious. My husband said his was the best lobster he had eaten in years. The fish... More

I would not recommend this hotel - we stopped for lunch a few times last summer, and found the ambience fairly unfriendly. Over the past few years we have been a few times. On the last occasion we asked if lunch was being served - it was in winter so we werent sure. We were told a firm no to... More
