Have just spent one night at the Porth Avallen Hotel , it has to have one of the most stunning views in the country. What a shame our £130 per night room did not match up! Room No 5 overlooks the front of the hotel with the "view to die for" but the room itself was oh so tired. Paint... More

I booked to stay at the Porth Avellen based on a friends recommendation, unfortunately had to cancel due to business changes. I called to cancel and I was then told that there is a 14 day cancellation 'policy', £50 a night, so a £200 bill to my company. So just a warning for you if you are booking here, the... More

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome immediately upon arrival. The food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner and would highly recommend. Thank you George and staff for a very enjoyable and relaxing time.

Firstly the positives. Like other reviewers, the proximity from this hotel to the Eden Project and surrounding beautiful coastal towns such as Fowey, Charlestown and Mevagissey was ideal. The views from the bar/lounge and restaurant, stunning. However, our room, no. 28, was devastatingly disappointing. I was very upset for my husband who had extended our holiday the previous week in... More

We booked a short break of three nights earlier this month reserving two specific rooms. With written confirmation of the two room numbers (which we had previously stayed in on several occasions) we found on arrival that one of the rooms had already been taken and to our great disappointment the magnificent sea views which our friends had been looking... Stayed at this hotel and found the place to be in a brilliant location for access to Charlestown and for The Eden Project but the hotel itself is very tired indeed. Room was of a reasonable size but sea view was not that great. Hotel looks like it has been decorated by someone with multiple personality disorder and it is... More

Starting with positives, the hotel is located close to the Eden Project and has lovely views across Carlyon Bay and good proximity to coastal walks. There were also some lovely staff members that were friendly and efficient and welcoming. I've stayed here about 6/7 times over the last 12 years but would never return following the last visit. Firstly, the... More

Were looking for a relaxing holiday and got it. Stayed for a week in early July 2014. Wonderful views of St Austell Bay so look for a room with a sea view. Staff were very personable and friendly. George, the owner, was always there to help. Brilliant coastal walks from the hotel and only 10/15 minutes walk from the historic... More

My wife and i my polska Princess and i have just arrived back from 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. The views are to die for but you must pay for a deluxe room to appreciate it, well worth the extra. The room was a good size and plenty of scenic windows, the bathroom good and clean and the location... More
