Stayed here for 3 days. The entire crew at the hotel were fantastic, special mention goes to Jasper, Emma and the chef(s), as the food was excellent. The suite was, needless to say, amazing with stunning views of the bay. Made my trip to Cornwall so much more enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

My family and I have just returned from Cornwall. My niece and her partner were visiting the UK. Jasper at Hotel Porth Avallen who greeted us cannot be more helpful and welcoming after our long a drive to from London to Austell. We had an excellent meal in the hotel. The steak was done to perfection. The brisket of beef... More

Arranged formal three course meal at this hotel for around 70 persons, with no fuss at all. The meal was served plated, with no annoying additional bowls of vegetables to contend with on the table, the portions were manageable in size, neither leaving you hungry nor overstuffed. The décor was in good order and in keeping with the rest of... More

There times when one is rewarded following a days driving and enjoying ever changing scenery. A little weary my wife and I may have been , but the welcome , booking in process, and finally to look out and admire the coastal panorama from our bed room was in it's self like a rejuvenating tonic. We enjoyed our meal ,it's preparation and... Friends booked this for us or else we would have moved on. The Owner seemed to find every request a problem. The rooms were not particularly good and two of us could not be in the bathroom at the same time with any degree of comfort. The breakfasts were meagre and it was a joy to move on to a... More

George (the owner) and staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for us. We had one problem with the room which was resolved within 24 hours. Tea, coffee and toiletries were refreshed daily. The meals were excellent and freshly cooked. Parking at the hotel was good. The location was excellent with great views and within a few miles of... More

I was booked into this hotel overnight, recommended by colleagues, whilst in the Cornwall and Devon area. Check-in was very easy, staff were very friendly. Dinner was served in the bar area as the restaurant was apparently very busy. Food and drink were very good, both at dinner and breakfast. Tip for all hotels: business travellers do expect breakfast to... More

Had excellent dinner at this Hotel on 24 September. Three adults and a teenager. 4 x Main meals and desserts. The food was most delicious and staff extremely friendly. Superb evening, can definitely recommend.

I have just returned from a 4 night break with my elderly parents. The hotel was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Don't listen to the reviews of Room 11 as the issue with the fan was fixed before we arrived. The hotel is oldish and the furnishings and decor enhance the old charm feeling. The beds were... More
