Room was very good paid for upgrade so had a seaview. Dinner was a disaster everyone had to send food back as it was so badly cooked, my burger was raw in the middle burnt on the outside, ended up with a bowl of soup. Staff were pleasant but lacked training. Hotel is due to close in October so perhaps... More

The Cliff Head Hotel would once have been a fairly nice place to stay. The hotel Is in need of a refurbishment and refocusing on customer care. Our room looked out onto another wall and the boiler noise was continuously evident. The drains smelt badly and the aroma was constantly in the room. The staff in the main were pleasant... More

We booked this through Trivago - the only reason was because we couldn't afford the Carlyon Bay Hotel across the road! Its a very tired hotel - in fact it reminds me very much of Fawlty Towers - décor wise. Very friendly staff who are welcoming, including Snowball the Cat - staff at the hotel i did notice are very... Facility is definitely in need of new look but the service provided by all the staff makes up for what is lacking. Catering staff were excellent, very kind, polite and attentive. Besides, when you are tired all you need is roof over your head and a clean and comfy bed which we got there.

We had a lovely time! The staff is absolutely wonderful, I forgot my daughter's shoes and they posted them back! I am very thankful! Food is good, the location is great and I recommend going for walks just near the hotel,it is very beautiful!

I can see why this hotel polarises opinion. The fabric of the building is very tired, nothing matches and bits are very shabby. But it is clean and functional, just. The staff in the main are quite helpful, although mostly apologetic and seemingly without any direction about what they should be doing. Dinner service was a bit chaotic but well... More

On arrival the first thing we saw was a sign saying the pool and sauna were both out of order. Our rooms were adequate, clean, a bit shabby and slightly dated. Beds not comfortable, bedding in need of replacing...pillows flat and lumpy. Slept poorly due to other guests noise. Service overall wasn't brilliant, breakfast hot buffet was ok, but not... More

Having viewed the previous reviews, we really weren't sure what to expect. What we found was a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and a hotel set in a beautiful area of St Austell. We checked in and were allocated room 20, which by any description was comfortable. However the outlook wasn't. the view was of the... More

Old building, labyrinthine corridors with nooks, no elevator, fusty smell in room, dirty carpet, dirty bed linen, hairs in bed, worn mattress, dirty curtains, dirty toilet, yogurt at breakfast expired, pool was closed (in August!), wifi worked poor GBP 85 per night is much too much!
