Visited last weekend and although having read recent reviews the service from the team and state of the venue is not that bad at all. They are a fairly young team, but nothing was too much trouble and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. We had a lovely view of the coastline too. Ideal to visit Charlestown, St Austell and... The Cliff Head hotel was somewhat of a disappointment to us. The hotel is rather old and run-down and is in dire need of a remodelling. The rooms smelled weird and had very poor beds. The breakfast was ok and the staff was nice. The area is very nice to explore some of the quaint towns close to St. Austell... More

The hotel looks old-fashioned, dark carpets everywhere and lots of old-style sofas in the reception area. My single room was fine, comfortable and with a clean en-suite. Wi-fi is free, but disappointingly has a very weak signal, and it was almost impossible to use it. It was difficult to get a phone signal as well. The staff were very friendly... More

Stayed 2 nights on a work excursion. The rooms were simple, clean and met my needs . There was a good variety of food available for breakfast too. The staff were friendly and helpful and made the place, as they created a positive atmosphere. The hotel closes later this year, and I do hope the staff get new jobs quickly,... More

My recommendations for this place are quite simple: - Keep the staff, who are wonderful - Keep the electric car charging point, which does work - Keep the chef who cooks the smoked haddock at breakfast - But knock the building down and start again. What some people might call 'character' I call 'old and tired'.

We were surprised to be told on arrival that this hotel is no longer a Best Western. It seems to be gradually running down in advance of its closure scheduled for October, ready for conversion into a residential home for the elderly. The swimming pool is closed, and it was clear that no effort was being made to bring it... More

It was a busy time in St Austell with summer incoming, at late notice and through Trip Advisor I found the Cliff Head Hotel. You'll probably work out the Cliff Head as you drive up - what you see is pretty much what you get. 'Faded glamour' is a bit of a cliché but feels like an accurate description -... More

Awful in every way shape and form. I hear this hotel is closing and I'm not the least bit surprised. Staff seem to be running around like headless chickens, waited for 10 mins before anyone checked us in, and no apology for keeping us waiting. Told to book in for dinner as they are almost fully booked. At dinner found... More

We recently visited the Cliff Head Hotel for a mini moon. We were greeted with an excellent front of house service upon checking in, both of the young gents were extremely informative and willing to assist. The bedroom was of a good size as was the bathroom, and the bed was very comfortable, with very nice views of the garden... More
