We stayed for 4 nights at Carlyon Bay. We enjoyed out stay but found it highly priced. The food was good and the staff friendly, although each morning they had run out of something at breakfast and we did have to wait. We felt the hotel was stuffy and better suited to the older customer. Overall it did not seem... more

Stayed her for one night on pre-booked Spa break - if it was not for that I would have founf it very expensive. Dinner was included in the break but would not have liked to pay £37.50 for a 4 course limited menu that was very small portions - It just about satisfied me and I have a small appetite... more

Imposing, large hotel. The location is beautiful, right on the cliff coastline of St Austell, beautiful views. Good for coastal walks, golf, and well placed for visiting the Eden Project (10 mins drive.) The rooms were quite poky, smaller than I would expect for the price, but clean, reasonably quiet and with a lovely bathroom. We had drinks in the... more

This is a good four star hotel living from guests mainly over 60 and golfers. The rooms are freshly renovated but on the small side, Fantastic view from the seafacing rooms. The buffet breakfast was excellent and dinner expensive but good quality food. The waiting staff need to be better trained though ( also to smile now and again). The... more

Not cheap, but worth every penny, the single room I booked was decent sized and had a huge en-suite, and the other rooms were lovely and roomy - the sea view one did not disappoint, Food was fabulous - the chef understood rare - but my only criticism was the waiter didn't and we ended up ordering off carte for... more

There were eight of us from three generations. It is our seventh year at the Carlyon Bay and once again we all had a fabulous time. The rooms (ranging from inland single to Deluxe Sea Facing Double) are well equipped and kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast is an extensive buffet with a large range of hot and cold on offer. Dinner... more

I stayed at the Carlyon Bay during the early part of July. The hotel looked great on the website and I anticipated a good stay for the 3 days I was in St Austell. On arrival I could see that the hotel looked rather tired and in need on some love and care. The decor was dated and similar to... more

I stayed here with my wife, nice hotel in a great location, good breakfast, nice amentites, pitch and putt, tennis courts, spa etc, the only one issue was that the double beds are tiny, and being 6ft it was not the most comfortable nights sleep, we did complain and all they could offer was a suite at an additional cost... more

I've stayed here a few times and I do like this Hotel. There is a corridor of pictures where celebrities have stayed there before, so I guess if it's good enough for them.... The gym and spa have been refurbished and the public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean. The evening meal is excellent and breakfast is quite good. As... more

Sumptuous hotel in every way ............................but the food! What a let down! I went with a different outfit for each night of the week we stayed there hoping to have a truly elegant and wonderful experience. However the first night had to return the meal as it was served luke warm. It then came back on plates.."Careful not to touch... more
