Dorothy, You are an English rose, A true lady, Nothing, Bar nothing is too much trouble for this lady and her staff. Ok, your not going to find contemporary , modern sleepover type accomodation, but if you want good old English charm at fantastic prices then go stay with Dorothy.

My children are still talking about their one night stay here. The wardrobe in room 4 is coming up again and again in conversation. We will definitely try and make staying in this gem of a b&b a yearly occasion.

Penkerris is a lovely place to stay, Dorothy (owner) was very kind to us, nothing was a problem for her and she gave us a lot of suggestions for our trips. The B&B was also very nice and homely, we really felt like home :-) The price was more than OK, plus it included a huge and tasty breakfast! I... More

We have stayed at Penkerris many times as a family with young children. Dorothy is very genuine and welcoming, and she and her staff serve a tasty cooked English breakfast with a smile, as well as offering tips for places to visit, lovely scenic walks, the best beaches etc. The decor is traditional and atmospheric - it's lovely to sit... This was a great short stay for us and Dorothy and her staff were very welcoming. Very good value for money and a characterful guest house. If you want an old fashioned British guesthouse experience then this is for you - highly recommended

The pictures on the website are a very accurate account of the B&B – the furnishings are out-dated and in places falling apart, although the owner Dorothy was incredibly hospitable and the atmosphere very homely. This was all as we anticipated, however we were not expecting the lack of cleanliness. The carpet was extremely dirty in our room, so bad... More

I was so sad and puzzled to read this review. I always give an en-suite booking an en-suite room but if an en-suite room is NOT available, I will offer them a standard room and this is often accepted. According to my records, this was the case. I am so sorry, amazed even horrified that the carpet was dirty (we... More

We stayed with Dorothy and her team for two nights. Nothing was too much trouble. We even took the dog! There were kittens in the house at the time of our visit. Breakfasts were everything we wanted. The rooms are alittle cluttered. You really do get the sense that Penkerris is Dorothy's home and you are staying there. It all... More

Me and my partner both come from the Netherlands and have returned to Cornwall many times for the holidays. This time it was the sixth time I myself stayed at Penkerris. The house is a fairytale house, situated in the lovely village St Agnes. The house has a lawn on which you can play badminton and other sportgames. Both adults... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Penkerris is an enchanting creeper clad Edwardian residence with a lawned garden and ample parking situated right on the edge of this unspoiled Cornish village. There are shops, delightful old pubs and several restaurants just around the corner. There are three lovely beaches, excellent for surfing, one with our beach hut, within walking distance. It is a “Home from Home” offering real food. Meals are served in the beautiful dining room. The lounge is bright and cosy with a log fire in winter. The lawn is fine for badminton; there are swings for the children, picnic tables and a barbecue. St Agnes is central for touring and is only 8 miles from Truro. There are frequent buses between St Agnes, Truro and Newquay. Penkerris is very easy to find. From the big roundabout on the A30 at Chiverton, take the B3277 to St Agnes (3m). Penkerris is just inside the village sign. We are pet and dog friendly. ... more   less
