Booked a room and asked to change for a sea view....no problem. Arrived and were met with a warm welcome and asked if we needed assistance with our cases. Comfortable bed and a sea view. Had a drink on Saturday evening, again a warm welcome and good service. Always nice when the bar-staff remember your previous order. Stayed for dinner... More

booked in with our border collie and had a lovely reception from the young man. They have rooms that are pet free too which is nice because I'd have room 5 if I didn't have the dog with me as it overlooks the cove. The accommodation has had a makeover for 2015 and it still has that nice "new carpet... More

Another brilliant weekend at the rising run. Wonderful location on the bay. A big thank you to Sharon and Marion and all of the staff. Going back 17th April. I love everything about this place. Superb.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Rising Sun. The location is excellent situated a few yards away from the sea and a 15 minute walk away to Mevagissey Harbour. There is no check in reception, and we were received by a barman. We were disappointed that our room did not overlook the bay particularly as I... More

Only popped in for a meal which was great. This is a good old fashioned pub, good atmosphere, and good Cornish beer. The meal was delicious, beautifully cooked makerel, it is the only facility in Portmellon and heavily used by locals so plenty of atmoshere.

A magical spot just feet away from the sea and only a short mile away from Mevagissey. We received a warm welcome and found our room (5) to be clean and more than adequate, with wonderful views out to sea and across the cove. The facilities were excellent- fresh cotton sheets, fluffy towels, abundant toiletries and a perfectly serviceable en-suite.... More

Fantastic location only a road width from the sea front. 1 mile walk from Mevagissey. Has free parking in the privately controlled car park, as long as you park to the one side. Shame the property is so dated and shabby. Mattress dreadful. Not worth the £80/night for a couple. Breakfast was okay, and nicely served by Jude. Thank you.

If we believed all we had read on here, we would never have gone. Luckily we didn't. We knew we were going to stay at a pub. The landlady sharon made us instantly welcome with a drink at the bar. We were showed to our room which we were more than happy with. Couldn't be bothered to walk anywhere although... More
