Three of us enjoyed a very nice lunch. Food was home made, good quality and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and timely. Nice pub which hasn't been tarted up and retains a nice local feel. Worth a visit

Stayed for 1 night. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. We were shown to our room which was very comfortable and clean. Decor very tasteful. Our evening meal was one of the best I've eaten as was the breakfast. All the staff were polite, welcoming and considerate and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here... More

Stayed one night. Warm greeting and taken straight to our room which was clean and aired. Bed was really comfortable and so quiet location. We had a meal which was good and served by polite waiter. The staff were helpful and I can honestly say I felt that nothing was to much to make our stay good. Oh and breakfast... More

We stayed at the Earl of Chatham on a Friday and Saturday night for a wedding at Boconnoc House. We had a little trouble finding it when we got off the train as there is very little mobile internet reception/signal in the area. We asked for directions in a supermarket and a very friendly man drove us right to the... More

Even considering this is just a pub B&B it could have been better. Wifi was almost useless, you have to go to the stairs to connect and it generally drops out. One tiny chair in the room where the seat was about a foot off the floor. No writing/computer desk or chair, although I could have gone down to the... More

We arrived about 8.20pm on Saturday night from a very long drive from Lancashire. We were both greeted by a lovely lass very pleasant & polite, she took us straight to our room, which was lovely, beautiful matching bedding, large bed & en suite. We then asked straight away about food which we were told of course we will make... More

Me, my husband and 2 other couples staying at the Earl of Chatham as we were attending a friends Christening in Bodmin. It is a lovely country pub in a beautiful little village, open fire, nice clean rooms and the staff were friendly and accommodating! Nothing was too much at breakfast! I would recommend this pub to anyone who asked... More

The pub is lovely, great old roaring-fire (obv not in summer) with nice atmosphere. Good selection of real ales and the food "pub grub" is really tasty with solid portion sizes. We had steak & ale pie and a rump steak - both delicious! We stayed a night in the B&B (to break up a journey) which was perfectly nice.... More

Made very welcome and had friendly service from all staff throughout our four night stay. Breakfast was excellent. It can be noisy but that's to be expected when staying in a pub. Only gripe was the lack of a hair dryer. Booking.com said one was available but it was incorrect. Would have taken our own if we knew.

On the hill to the north of the town lies the pub amongst a terrace of houses, the staff were very welcoming the beer decent and the small restaurant had a good menu. 6 of us had starters and mains and we all commented on the quality of the meal. Definitely recommended if you want a good pub meal!
