A sign outside says "The pub is the hub" and it's certainly true about the Ship Inn. We've just had a fabulous overnight stay there and it couldn't have been better. Jonny and Ronni are great hosts, the food was good, our room was lovely and the whole atmosphere was warm and relaxing with friendly locals popping in for a... More

We had made a reservation to eat here for my Mum's 50th birthday meal but the reservation hadn't been made, despite my partner doing it in person. Service slow, to the point it was none existent. Some dishes not available. Couldn't make a sandwich for a child. Garlic bread worst I've had. Sausages tasteless. Food decidedly average. Left disappointed. However,... More

We had some lovely take away fresh fish and chips on saturday night. Always get a friendly welcome! Thank you Jonny. Also lovely beer garden. Very dog friendly and fun for the children especially in the summer.

We have just seen another review that mentions the fly problem - we concur. OK, the inn is at the head of a tidal creek but the amount of flies in the inn is enough to spoil your meal. Now to the meal itself; two of us opted for mains choice of "Fishcakes with creamy leeks" - notice the plural,... More

Met up with friends for a meal early in September on a Saturday night. Lovely setting beside a river and a car park close by. A "proper" pub beams and flag stones, friendly staff and a nice selection of real ales. We sat in the conservatory section and there were flies everywhere must have been about 100 of them all... Having booked a fab holiday cottage just up the road, we had high expectations for the local pub. It looks welcoming from the outside, except for the smokers blocking up the doorway. When we walked in we were ignored by the woman behind the bar (turned out to be the landlady). She did however start up a random conversation with... More

This is a pub just as it should be no themes here just great beer, great local cider, great food, chatty locals, friendly and attentive staff and landlord and landlady very welcoming. Our room was clean & comfortable just what we needed. Spent a fab four days here whilst touring Devon and Cornwall in August. Live music on the Thursday,... More

We visited this pub twice. It has a lot of the things I look for in a pub; character, friendly bar staff, good beer, no music or fruit machines. The first time we popped in for a pint and liked the atmosphere so much that we decided to come back for a meal. The second time we were dismayed to... More

What a pleasant change from the sterile pub chains up-country anything goes at this establishment. The couple that run the pub are very friendly both drooling at my table along with the lovely labs who refused to eat the frozen chips. My wife was seduced by a 16stone tattooed lesbian i havent laughed so much for years. We will definitely be going... More

Lovely staff, great landlord and what a beautiful riverside setting. The room was spotless and fresh. Our evening meal was good honest food and good size portions, and we were lucky to have live music in the bar the night we stayed. Breakfast was good, lovely bread used for the toast and local butter yum! Full English set us up... More
