We stayed at The Friary Manor Hotel for one night only. Shame, it should have been more. The building is great with real history. The furniture is beautiful. The service is second to none. Breakfast was as good as we have had anywhere. (I read a negative review on TA, the reviewer missed breakfast, her loss. Perhaps she would be... More

We were staying in a cottage in Portwrinkle and found the Lisgawn by accident. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. We ended up going there for dinner three times during our stay and will certainly go back again when we are next in the area.

We stayed there when looking to trace my famiky "maker". Vic and Jan not only welcomed us warmly but treated us beautifully throughout. Our room was clean and appeared to have been recently renovated. It had everything we could possibly need. The gardens were beautiful with squirrels and deer wandering about. The breakfast was spectacular. I love that meal best... More

Stayed here for a wedding at nearby Polhawn Fort. Both Vic and Jan are delightful hosts and catered for all our needs. We arrived late on Friday night and Vic rang up the local Chinese in Torpoint to hold a table for us. They also made an great full English and organised taxis for us. We would definitely come a... This quaint country house hotel is the perfect antidote to the identikit chain hotels. We stayed in the family room and also in the 4-poster double room. Both rooms were well presented, with comfortable beds. In the morning, a hearty breakfast was cooked to order, by Jan. ( I ate "hog's pudding" for the first time!) During our stay, we... More

Fragrant scones, fresh from the oven, still warm, served with raspberry jam and lashings of clotted cream. What's not to like? The welcome was warm and obliging, and view through the window into the garden was delightful. A squirrel was tucking into some nuts, there were long tailed tits on the bird table, and 2 pheasants also wandered on the... More

The location of the hotel is lovely and the building itself is quite different, in style, looking reminiscent of an American wooden-built house to me. The gardens are lovely and the woodland walk looked delightful. It was quite difficult to find the hotel in the dark and we over-shot using the Sat Nav and entered by the back drive. The... More

When we arrived we weren't welcomed because our names wernt down to arrive. A man answered the door talking to someone of the phone and just told us to wait inside. Whilst waiting we noticed that the man that answer the door was getting his toenails cut in the bar area Which turned our stomachs. When we got into the... More
