As I write this I'm sat with a cup of tea in the wonderful surroundings of Harvey the train. Where to start, the effort that's gone into making the carriage as authentic as possible is amazing, from the taps to the little etched mirrors it's great! The garden is huge and make sure you go all the way to the... More

Hi Matt, Thank you so much for your lovely review - we really appreciate it. It's very kind of you to take the time to let people know about Harvey. We're always delighted to hear the garden is being enjoyed, as we have had a lot of fun creating it. We've been very pleased to see the fire pit used... More

Wow! This was our second stay in Harvey in Hayle and it was just as brilliant as I remember! It's something really different and a real treat for my Dad who loves trains. Also, it's very interesting to think about the good old days when we went round in these "ancient" coaches! But the accommodation's lovely and clean and the... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review - we're so pleased you enjoyed your holiday, and we're always delighted when guests return. Hayle is constantly changing at the moment - they've just officially opened the cycle path to the Wharfs, which will offer a direct route to the sea again. Hope to see you again soon. Many thanks, Lizzy More

14 of us met up for a big family holiday in Harvey. Three of the party arrived, hassle free, by train from Salisbury. Other members, including son and family holidaying from New Zealand, took all day to travel from Derby, it was the first day of school holidays! Harvey had a "wow" factor from the start. Arthur, age 4, loved... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review. Really pleased you enjoyed the brazier - it was one of the new things we did this year, so we're delighted it's being used. Good to know the Indian takeaway delivers - we've not used that facility yet (though we can agree that the fish and chips are very good!) Hope you'll... More

Dave, Lizzy and Bob the caretaker have made this an ideal family getaway with a difference. The children kept saying "I can't believe I've slept on a train!" Hayle station has a full length platform for inter-city trains, so Harvey's land behind is quite extensive and private. The first half of the garden is open, peaceful and private while the... More

Thank you Tim and Lindsay for such a lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your holiday - so pleased the children enjoyed the signal box playhouse too and thank you for all your comments on ideas for things to do in the area. The suggestion of sun loungers is a great one - we'll act on this as soon as... More

We were looking for something different for three generations, and this was definitely it. The beds really are old railway seats! The kitchen is not for cooking gourmet meals, and the bathroom could have a shower cubicle, rather than curtain, without losing credibility, but the whole thing is really fun. Hayle exceeded expectations. The brilliant weather helped. If you do... More

Thank you very much for your lovely comments - we very much appreciate your feedback. We've recently done a little work in the West End bathroom, but will give some thought to the suggestion of a cubicle rather than a curtain as it's something we hadn't considered. I'm glad you liked Hayle beach and really pleased you found Harvey fun... More

a wonderful holiday stay for myself, husband and 2 Springer Spaniels. We were made very welcome with Lizzy being there to meet us and the garden was perfect with it being more "au naturel" than formal, much more to our liking and the apples were delicious, thank you! Inside we had wine, local shortbread, tea coffee and milk and it... More

Visiting family in Cornwall, we decided that a few nights in the carriage at Hayle railway station would be a different experience. It most certainly was, as in a hugely enjoyable different experience. The carriage has been very practically adapted to suit a family holiday, and the addition of a viewing platform which is accessed from one end just adds... More

Having previously stayed in railwayholiday's gorgeous little Travelling Post Office on a hen weekend with friends, and having business in Cornwall one weekend, I decided to take my sister away for a weekend in the company's larger Hayle carriage. We arrived on a blustery September evening and found the carriage as cosy and inviting as the website gallery promised. The... More

Really enjoyed our first experience of sleeping in a rail-carriage. Very comfy. Nice cabin kitchen.Great view of line from built platform adjacent to the carriage. Total privacy from public platform areas. So good to be so close to the Towans in particular. Beautiful place and great for getting train to St Ives.

Thank you for your kind review. We're so pleased you enjoyed visiting the Towans - they are beautiful. Thanks for also commenting about the ease in accessing St Ives - a half hourly train service between St Erth and St Ives has been a real bonus in the last couple of years. More

My wife had the idea of choosing a train carriage to thrill our three-year-old boy. After much research of those dotted around the country, we chose this one, more for its Cornwall location than anything else. We're not train-lovers, but we do enjoy things a little bit different. We hoped for fun and character. Straight off, the carriage wasn't as... More
