We stayed for one night on recommendation of friends. We cannot fault the food, the room, the service or the facilities. A little off the beaten track but the seclusion and the wonderful views add to the charm of this wonderful place.

We recently had a 2-night "winter warmer" break which was excellent value. We were warmly welcomed by Michelle who was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. All the rooms have a view of the river Fowey and ours also had a balcony, ideal for relaxing in the summer. The room was not large but had a superking-sized bed with a... More

Booked a 2 night stay. Weather was absolutely awful. This place was a little haven. Yes, there is a steep driveway, yes there's not much else around in the local area, but it was perfect for me. Our room was above the dinning room with a juliette balcony and views to die for. The room was large, bed comfortable (yes... More

Booked one night with booking.com, £100 including breakfast, I ignored the directions on the hotels website and the email they sent me at my peril! (Read the directions and follow them!) We were greeted by Michelle who straight away made us feel at home, she showed us to our room which was very comfortable and had incredible views of the... More

Dinner on a quiet January evening was a surprise and delight. We demurred on the interesting constructed six part taster menu, and instead selected a combination of dishes from the separate evening dining and bistro menus. The food is fresh, locally sourced, portions ample, attractively presented, and flavoursome! The service is welcoming, responsive, and unobtrusive. The wine list offers options by... More

Service in restaurant was great, however the food was sparse and rather pretentious. We expected a roll with our soup. Reheated roast potatoes and carrots ( some of which were wizened and obviously re-cycled from the previous day) Tiny sliver of blue cheese which was dry and stale. Chocky pudding was delicious. Furniture rather tired, decor dated and worn.

My husband and I stayed for our 10th Wedding Anniversary for 1 night in December. We were welcomed by the Michelle, who shook our hands at check-in. We had a superior room with balcony, which had wonderful views. Their is no sound-proofing in the rooms, so you can hear tv's, talking, and we had a snorer below us!! Sadly the... More

we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, especially as you were celebrating an anniversary. We are surprised by your comments, and would have loved the opportunity to address your concerns while you were here. You describe your room as outdated. It is partly furnished with antiques. We do have different styles of room, but you booked through... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and in common with most of the other reviews it's the view/location that is the highlight of the stay. The staff are friendly and in the main helpful but this hotel could be better with just a few simple improvements that in the main just involve attention to detail.... More

We were truly sorry about the mistake over your food order on the first night of your stay. I discovered the following day that it was not dealt with professionally by our staff, and I do apologise for that. We are mystified by your claim that there was an error on the second night's order. Because of our failure on... More

Stayed for just the one night. We got such a great deal and felt like we should of paid more! The room was impeccably clean and the view was absolutely superb. The best part was the incredible continental breakfast laid on which was included in the room price. Couldn't of wished for anywhere better!

Thank you so much for your very kind words. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Breakfast here does actually include a full choice of cooked to order hot dishes, not just a continental offering. Do hope that you did in fact have have a cooked breakfast. More

Stayed for one night last week for a sad occasion, family reunion for oldest Brothers funeral in Bodmin. The hotel is lovely and deserves all the accolades it gets. The view over the River Fowey from our room was beautiful. I would love to see it in the summer. The restaurant was a bit hit and miss for my taste... More

If you did not want 'Bistro style' food we wonder why you chose your food from our Brasserie Menu instead of our evening Dinner Menu. Our restaurant offers a really great 'fine dining Menu' every evening, as well as a Tasting Menu. Of course we do remember you and your group. You made your meal choices from our Brasserie Menu,...
