The Finnygook Inn was booked for 2 nights, the room was not overly clean and our coffee cups were dirty with the previous guests drinks, luckily we travel with our own mugs so we were able to use our own. We sat in the bar for a little while then decided to have our glass of wine in the room.... More

We, (six professional women of a certain age walking the south west coastal path) once had a very positive experience staying at the Finnygook, when our walk got rained and fogged off, so we booked it again for three days to complete the missing bits of the path. But something has changed. Very friendly and helpful breakfast staff – faultless... More

I got a fine room at a good price at the Finnygook Inn. It overlooked an outdoor seating area, and I thought that might be a bit noisy, but only a few people used it during the evening, and they kept reasonably quiet. A lot depends on the other guests in any accommodation, and the people staying at the inn... More

We cannot comment on the food this time as we didn't get that far. We have been visiting the Finnygook for quite a few years but we will not be returning. What started as a simple booking of a table on the telephone ended in us leaving after being subjected to appalling customer service with a 'local woman' joining in... More

This is a review of the evening restaurant and the chef specifically. All other staff: bar, breakfast and room service were excellent. Last week we were staying in the Finny and on the first night I ordered a deep fried haddock and chips. What I got was what what I ordered but had obviously been prepared for someone else hours... If you enjoy a rude greeting and being ignored for half an hour this is the right place for you. Went to watch a band and thought we would have a meal before the music started. When we actually finally got served at the bar and managed to get a table the staff was rude and to be quite honest... More

The hotel was great, nice but small room with tea, coffee and bisquits plentiful. The views around the hotel were stunning. The choice of Breakfast was fabulous a little undercooked for my own liking but when I asked for crispy baken and a little longer cooked scrambled eggs I got it, so no problem. However we found the evening staff... More

Booked this place last minute and very glad we did :) The view of the river and surrounding countryside from the beer garden and restaurant are stunning - great relaxing scenery. The pub is only a short drive from a lovely dog friendly beach and great cafe so you have the best of both worlds :) The staff were helpful... More

The Finnygook Inn is an absolute gem in East Cornwall. The location is fantastic, only a few miles from Plymouth (via the Torpoint Ferry) for those who can't do without their retail therapy! Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The ambience in the bar was great and the food simply exquisite. If you want a formal sit-down meal,... More
