Callington Art School was an inspirational week and I thank Tessa and Peter wholeheartedly for sharing their delightful home, unsurpassable skills and endless passion. The combination of art school and Guest House provides a perfect balance between learning and serenity. I appreciated the fully equipped and informal art studio that would have inspired even Mr Turner himself! The picturesque 'field'... More

Peter does everything possible to make you welcome to Lower House. The rooms are as well appointed as they can be within the historic building, with every amenity available. The bed in the 'Untitled' room was very comfortable and the breakfast a delight, with so many options to choose from. We will definitely look forward to a return visit.

Sadly only able to stay one night but we loved the beautifully decorated and appointed room, enjoyed the excellent breakfast with a full menu including fresh fruit and hope to revisit. Charming Georgian style house on the main street. Limited parking so you may have to walk a little way but wel worth it and otherwise the perfect B&B for... More

Spent a weekend there for a mates wedding. Food, room and hosts were excellent. Location very good for getting around. Peter and Susan made us feel really welcome and the art work around the hotel was very good too. Well worth staying there.

I do love the days staying in the lower house for 11 days during 14-24th September. Their conserned care make me feel no lone in a foreign country. We paint and draw outsides sometimes besides the beach with pretty purple cliffs , sometimes just seat between the big ancient stones in moor or besides a lovely beautiful river. When we... More

I travelled all the way from New Zealand to attend one of Tessa's art courses in early June. I stayed at their B&B and wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be a wonderful experience, the food by master chef Peter was amazing, the generous and art tuition and guidance by Tessa was way above my expectation, the... More

Reading the other reviews here, I think they have said it all. Peter and Tessa are the most amazing hosts, accommodating and welcoming guests as their personal friends. I have enjoyed two fantastic stays with them at Lower House and hope to return next year. Peter's cooking will ensure that you gain several kilos during your stay as all of... More

What a fantastic house! Peter is very welcoming and helpful. The room we had was comfortable and provided a brilliant nights sleep. There is also artwork all over the house, many by Peter's wife, Tessa, and her father, most of which are for sale. Peter also showed us the art studio in the house where they run courses.
