Tessa is an excellent teacher and her art course is thoroughly worthwhile: I learnt a lot. The level of hospitality is exceptional: to be welcomed into this home is a real treat and Peter's cooking is memorable! I especially recommend the bacon sandwiches. Thank you so much.

Spacious & clean accommodation, excellent quality food cooked to perfection and the most friendly, accommodating & welcoming hosts. Thank you for making our short stay so enjoyable... We will definitely be back (hopefully for an art course)!

Peter and Tessa were welcoming and accommodating hosts to this solo traveler. Their home is beautiful and was a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. My room with bath was well appointed: the bed comfortable, the artwork was beautiful, the view to the back garden was lovely, the nights were quiet. It's an easy walk to... More

...is how Peter describes it. I came for a six day (excellent) art course but would happily recommend it as a B&B to anyone. My en suite room was comfy, warm and spacious. The food was of a high standard, freshly prepared after discussing the menu with the guests. The hosts were friendly and good company. I did not have... More

I've just come back from attending my second art course at Lower House and will hopefully be returning for a third next year. The weather on this occasion was fantastic and Tessa and Peter are excellent hosts. Outstanding food, great company, two days of painting/sketching at the coast, an afternoon working in the grounds of Cotehele and a life drawing... More

Callington School of Art is based at this guest house in Callington, Cornwall. I spent a week there in September on a "multi-media" course. Tessa and Peter are the hosts - Tessa teaches art and Peter cooks. He also drives the minibus and chips in with wry comments. I had a great time. The art instruction was useful and constructive.... This guest house really is "Home from Home". Not really knowing what to expect, I was amazed at my own luck in finding this pearl. I took part in an inspiring art course and learned to look at my surroundings in new ways, and to express myself artistically using a variety of media. Wonderful! Thanks Tessa. Peter was in charge... Tired from travelling by bicycle, I found the room very comfortable and the food superb. Our hosts could not have been more generous with their time and advice; they went out of their way to look after me. It didn't apply to me, but I noted that Lower House caters especially for artists.

This is our very favorite guest house. The owners are welcoming and are two very interesting people. We were extremely comfortable in our beautiful bedroom and our en suite bathroom was superb. We also love the paintings done by our host, Tessa and her family. Peter and Tessa's breakfasts are delicious.

What a brilliant week with Tessa and Peter at their welcoming, warm house and studio. Everything was thought about - cosy bed, unbelievably delicious food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), as well as all you might need to get the very most out of an art course. Tessa is a superb artist and teacher; now I am home, I am realise... More
