Where to start? At the beginning, of course. We drove down a narrow lane to The Old Rectory, where we were greeted by Sally and the gorgeous dog Millie. Sally served us tea on the terrace and joined us, telling us about the history of the place and its close connections with Thomas Hardy. Hardy first met his wife Emma... More

Tucked away in a truly peaceful and quiet woodland, The Old Rectory in St Juliot offers a magical atmosphere and excellent service. The spirit of the place is everywhere: in the names of the rooms, the pictures and other memorabilia on the walls and the rectory-like communal breakfast table. It was not very easy to access the place, although compared... More

For the second year in a row we visited The old Rectory. Sally still keeps amazing me the way she runs this beautiful B&B. We stayed for 4 nights and 3 times we were lucky to be able to appreciate the cooking skills of daughter Anne. With the garden in full bloom it just is a lust to stroll around... More

Very beautiful, peaceful location. The owners are very helpful, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Evening meal by Anna also very nice. It's a little far from Boscastle, but if no-one is available to take you, it seemed easy to get a taxi.

Stayed a week in the suite and wanted to stay longer. Very friendly hosts, Sally and Chris, who treat you like friends. Breakfast first class with home and local produce with a good variety. Beautiful house and gardens with historical interest. Home from home experience and would definitely go again.

We returned and stayed two nights 4-5 June with our two little dogs. We had stayed here eleven years ago and always said we would again if in Cornwall. We were not disappointed - still the most beautiful place to stay and Sally is a wonderful host. We met a lovely couple from Germany who were touring Cornwall. We would... More

Though the area makes you feel like you are acting in a horror movie, everything is wonderful. Perfect hosts, clean and beautiful rooms, absolutely delicious dishes. Great landscape, ideal for wandering around the place early in the morning, breathing fresh air! Totally recommended!

Wonderful historic eco managed and beautifully maintained historic Rectory with connections to Thomas Hardy. Sally showed us round the house and gardens with great enthusiasm after a lovely welcome. The food was home grown and cooked perfectly with a large range of breakfast dishes including four different types of smoked fish. Simply sumptuous. Lots to do locally and many coastal... More

This was a visit back to the area where we spent our honeymoon 30 Years ago. We stayed in The Old Stables which was a lovely self-contained area of the house with its own woodburner and sofa. It was absolutely perfect. The house and garden are beautiful and have an interesting history with connections to Thomas Hardy and the owner's... More
