Looking forward to visiting the famous Jamaica Inn after a morning with family on the moors. Decided to give the Museum a miss at £3.95 per person as place looked very small. The interior of the bar/dining room is somewhat dingy with tired decor although in fairness the low beamed ceiling etc does excerbate this. What I found more unpleasant... more

Dreadful quality and child -sized portions, cold inedible vegetables, a tablespoon of pasta also inedible and very over-salted, half-sized portion of steak and ale pie. When we complained we were informed that management had advised staff to reduce portion sizes. Staff were defensive and unhelpful. Jamaica Inn is over priced and over-rated, we will not stop there again on route... more

We chose to stop here on our way back through from Cornwall to South Wales as somewhere to grab a quick evening meal and feed our one year old. It was useful that they had food warming facilities for babies but I was glad we had brought something ourselves for our little son to eat. We were expecting average pub... more

Stayed here for one night and I'm glad it wasn't any longer. The location, room and staff were all very good, alot better than I expected. Being on Bodmin Moor it is miles from anywhere and you have to eat here if you stay. It was very busy and our table/order number was over 60. It is not a fine... more

My parents treated me to a stay at the Jamaica Inn, Bodmin because I was visiting them in Devon, from Florida. They knew I had read a lot about Daphne Du Maurier along with her book "Jamaica Inn". Also, they were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, so it was a special trip for that reason too. Sadly it wasn't the... more

Had to wait 15mins at reception on arrival. Room, in refurbished ground floor was fine but rest of inn is grubby and dingy. No heating in main building/other bedrooms (due to central heating failure? - but no explanation or apology). Evening food was abysmal and overpriced - even for pub grub. Breakfast only up to 0900 and poor quality. Had... more

Wonderful place…Everything enchants: * Beautiful landscapes – green areas are taken care of and in case of The White Suite - a piece of a private rain forest right on the sea shore! * Architecture – little, heaven-coloured houses surrounded by a garden full of flowers * Decor – special care for harmony, very comfortable furniture and precisely chosen suppelements.... more

Went here expecting a really good place with lovely 'pub' food especially due to it's reputation and high public profile - but it was awful. food was cold - had a very fatty gristly sausage, with cold vegetables - was expensive for what it was. very disappointed and decor was drab and musty. will never venture there again. more

I did not stay at this hotel but I did eat at its restaurant last week while on holiday in Cornwall with a couple of friends. It was such a terrible experience, I must urge everyone to stay away!!! We saw the Jamaica Inn advertised in a few tourist brouchures and thought we would go as it is Cornwall's legendary... more

We stayed in Jamiaica inn last summer and we really enjoyed our one night stay. To really appreciate this magical place you have to read Daphne Du Mauriers book of the same name as its charm and magic is brought alive here. I would recommend this accomodation if you are looking for something different for a night or two and... more
