Desperate with hunger we entered into a world of forgotten souls..completely uninspiring menu but thought sausage and chips can't go wrong. However, one glance at the lost soul behind the bar said otherwise and we though that if his grubby little hands touched any of the plates let alone food...a stay at the local hospital would be imminent. As we... More

We used Jamaica Inn twice in early July 2013, once on our way to the Isles of Scilly and then on our return trip. There is a good size car park, although you need to be a bit careful getting in as there is a gate at right angles to the road. Staff were friendly in the bar, restaurant and... More

After reading the book Jamaica Inn and loved it, I was treated to stay at the charming Inn. Unfortunately traffic caused a 6 hour drive, and it looked like we were going to miss the deadline time of 9.30 for dinner so called the Inn to let them know and fortunately a lovely lady named Stacey who was also the... I would like to thank Cheryl for coming to the Inn and for her constructive review. Having just bought the Jamaica Inn, I am making many improvements including staff re-training, enlarging the menu and improving the food served. I am pleased to note our assistant chef, Stacey, was so helpful to Cheryl as was our new employee, Zac. Hopefully Cheryl... More

Although my partner had warned me that it had terrible reviews I assured him that when I had visited years before I had a nice experience. I should have listened to him. On arriving we actually thought it was closed - the main area was in darkness with no staff - this was 5.30 on a Saturday. We walked to... More

I have just bought the Jamaica Inn and am most concerned about this review. Numerous changes and improvements are underway to the Inn. It is not clear when this guest stayed and saying it was dark at 5.30 may mean it was before I purchased the Inn. Nevertheless, staff are going through re-training to increase the level of service and... More

Overall this is a good place to stop for a break on route to holiday destinations. The experience however is rather bizarre. On arriving there is a windswept Bodmin Moor feel about the place, but on entering the bar area you are met by a catering set up more akin to a school dining room. Hard to imagine any budding... Not really sure where to leave my review as there is a separate restaurant review page but have decided on here. I genuinely can't understand the poor reviews, maybe it is something to do with the Jamaica Inn having recently been sold but our visit was absolutely amazing. We were staying overnight and arrived over an hour before check in... More

THrough out the years we have been coming here as a pit stop on the way to south cornwall. its steeped in history it used to be a nice stop where you had a museum next door of taxidermy and was a great pub to relax and enjoy. now though unfortunly the museum has gone and the pub itself has... More

We stopped here on our way between Cornwall and North Devon for lunch, we haven't stayed here. The open fire was nice as it was a chilly rainy day, shame it wasn't kept going though. The welcome was warm and the food good enough, chips a bit dry but the battered fish was fine. The sticky toffee pudding was more... More

As a Cornish person who had never been to the Jamaica Inn, we thought it was about time to do so! So four of us had sunday lunch there today. First of all we visited the very tired gift shop, which was pretty empty of stuff. Then we ventured into the pub for our lunch. Undoubtably this has oodles of... More
