We stay here each year when going to the rugby, it's about 20 min walk to the Stoop/Twickenham stadium and about a 10-15 min walk from the station. Bus from Richmond station goes right past it. Handy for Twickenham centre. Fairly quiet area. nothing fancy but suits us. One site parking (no extra cost). Breakfast is nice and was included... more

Overall Popes Grotto is a nice small hotel attached to a pub. My first concern was that it would be noisy but very quiet. Rooms double glazed plus aircon but pub itslef is a quiet place generally. Negative points where: no frdge or bar in the room which most hotels of a reasonable level seem to have as standard nowadays.... more

Stayed on a Saturday night. Nice enough room but could hear the man in the next room talking clearly enough to ascertain he was Australian! Despite reviews last year saying the hotel desperately needed redecoration this obviously has not been picked up on. Entrance area round lift and area round downstairs loos really grotty. We were walking the Thames Path over a 10-day period (recommended if you have strong feet!) so we booked this as the last overnight stop before reaching central London - it's right along the official Thames Path route.
