I normally stay in Reading when I go to the UK office but decided to change to the French Horn (based on Tripadvisor ratings) which is about the same distance from the office. It has been great experience. Extremely friendly staff, very profesional and the food is splendid. Also it is nice to be in a pub like environment for... More

We had a table for eight last night in their beautiful conservatory on the bank of the Thames. The restaurant was very busy but the service was still great. Although we have eaten here many times before the quality of everybody's dinner was superb and they definitely have eight customers who can't wait to go back!

Been lucky to have eaten a few times at The French Horn , my latest visit kindly paid for by a national newspaper. Dispite the pressence of a photographer taking our picture while we dined the experiance was as amazing as ever. Service is the best bar none and the food faultless. Well done to you all.

We stayed overnight, Friday 10 October, in the main building above the restaurant. The room was attractive and comfortable - except for a heating system failure. The five stars are because the owner / manager dealt with the problem in an exemplary manner, trying to put it right himself, calling in an outside firm, updating us at dinner, adjusting (unasked)... The days I spent at the French Horn hotel were some of the best of my life. The room were ample and comfortable, the scenery was magnificent, the staff very helpful. The food was the best part. Everything was delicious. I found the experience very relaxing and I would warmly reccomend it to everyone.

What a beautiful find. Lovely staff, attentive but not in your face, such comfortable well thought out rooms and if they say you're staying in the houses across the road, don't worry for one moment. The cottages are beautifully furnished and you get breakfast delivered to you in the morning. The food is great and plentiful and the wines compliment... More

We stayed overnight in mid-October following a birthday dinner with my wife. The room, in the main building, overlooked Sonning Bridge and the lawns which was perfect. Yes, it was old-fashioned but in a traditional building like The French Horn I am happy to accept that, preferable to it having the standard Farrow & Ball grey paint "makeover" ;-) A... More

I was nt sure the first time I stayed here so I came back again. Both times I reserved a river cottage suite. The bathroom, with a stand alone tub, shower and twin sinks is impressive. The lounge is sparse and furnished with old fashioned (and not in an antique manner) furniture. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable although it... More

One of the best Restaurants near Reading, In general I share the feeling of most of the previous reviewers. It is a pretty unique place that feels like a different, more elegant world of the past. The quality of food was good, both the starter as well as the main cooked to perfection but it did take about 40 minutes... More

On a chilly day it was lovely to arrive to a roaring log fire. We were shown to our room (8) with lovely views over the river but the drapes over the bed are showing their age by coming apart & need replacing. The lighting was a little dim until the low energy bulbs warmed up. We went down to... More
