I have been dining at the French Horn on a regular basis for over 30 years. Although I have dined in a lot of top restaurants around the world, this continues to be my favourite. The place is not cheap. Sunday lunch is just under £60 per head plus drinks. The carte du vin has a lot of bottles priced... More

The staff are friendly and attentive but the whole hotel needs an overhaul with an air of the 1960's. When we have modern bright wine bars everywhere, I would be reticent to return to this rather sad place. The food was tasty but not what one would expect for the exorbitant prices. Was glad a friend had taken me as... More

Arriving at the French Horn Hotel is like coming home: owners and staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent, the lobby is very cosy next to the open fire place. The rooms are cosy if one likes carpet covered floor. The bathrooms are white and clean and tubs and WC working well - which is not usual in... More

The simple fact is this restaurant is still firmly planted in the 70's/80's. This leads to it possessing a quirky nature, much like that of an old Uncle who's values and outlook on the world really hasn't improved much since the last time you saw him. This venue is in a perfect location and the garden is genuinely beautiful, quintessential... More

Our Saturday lunch from the set menu was of the standard you would expect from this restaurant overlooking beautiful gardens and the river Thames. The standard of service although e the restaurant was very busy met most of our expectations and the relaxed atmosphere added to the enjoyment of this fine dining offerings. This restaurant ios very popular and booking... More

We checked in and were shown to our room, quite friendly without being overbearing. The room was overlooking the lawn and lake or river. We had a meal in the restaurant - subject to another review- and went to bed, that's when all was not good. The pillows were sooo hard and uncomfortable that neither my wife or I could... More

My husband took me to this restaurant for a special birthday meal. The front of house and welcome was everything we expected from the reviews we had read. The dinning experience was somewhat disappointing. Food was good but not special and overpriced The service was OK but in a restaurant of this standard would have expected to at least be... More

This place is listed as a Pride of Britain member hotel. I cannot believe that it would ever be considered for entry considering the other hotels listed in the same publication. The rooms are small and totally outdated. The maintenance is poor and to be pushed to have breakfast in your room is just not on. The breakfast is 1960's... More

A lovely meal and firs class service. The staff could not do enough for us and the pre dinner drinks outside looking over the river was an amazing way to start the evening. The food was also delicious and the building has a nice atmosphere. All round excellent.

The French Horn is nestled on the banks of a gently flowing Themes in Sonning. The grounds are lush and green. The restaurant is well appointed with attentive staff and excellent cuisine. We always enjoy the way they take care of your needs without being intrusive. You can eat and chat at your own pace. The rooms are nice albeit... More
