The Swan Inn is reached by driving south from Hungerford which is near the M4 motorway. There is considerable driving on narrow country highways but the Inn is worth a visit and a stay. There are 10 or so rooms, a pub with a restaurant and an organic produce grocery on the site. They grow and process their own animals for the freshest meat and sausages. The rooms are not spectacular but are clean with good showers, good bath linens, decent bed with clean linens, TV, tea/coffee set up, view of the back garden and a small pasture (I saw a red deer grazing in the pasture one morning)
The food is amazing and the service was personal and friendly. Every attempt to meet our needs was made.

And unlike a lot of places I have stayed at over the years, you can sleep with the windows wide open and enjoy the fresh air and sounds of a perfectly peaceful countryside rather than worrying about intruders and the growl of... more
