We have just finished yet another fantastic dinner at the Monkey Island Hotel! The food here truly is fantastic. You have great food, great service and a great atmosphere to boot. Andrew in particular treats us like royalty and makes the whole experience worthwhile. The peacocks in the grounds are beautiful. A local hidden gem!!

We arrived on a sunny Sunday and we were instantly charmed by arriving by a footbridge festooned by hanging baskets and walking into glorious grounds. We were staying overnight with small kids who we were taking to Legoland the next day. It is a great location for a Legoland stopover as only 15 mins away but you get to stay... More

This hotel makes a nice alternative to the large chain hotels. I found staff friendly and facilities OK, however as with any historic building there were a few bits that could be maintained a bit better. Dinner in the restaurant was nice although I thought the vegetarian options were expensive for what you got. I also think the breakfast was... More

This could, and should, be a very nice hotel. In our case, it was hugely let down by one issue - adjacent to our room (no. 17, an Executive King) was a cupboard with a fan or pump in it that was so noisy it made sleep quite impossible. We ended up having to move to a different room, of... More

I visited last Saturday with a friend for the hotels afternoon tea. We had the table under the pagoda and enjoyed a lovely afternoon watching the boats go past and tucking into a fine array of cakes and scone as well as traditional sandwiches accompanied by as many fresh pots of tea as we could manage. We were extremely well... More

I found this hotel on trip advisor as we had a voucher to go to Heston's restaurant in Bray. What a superb choice, we had the perfect weather and our room looked straight on to the river. We wish we had stayed an extra night to have a meal in the restaurant but we will definitely return. Thank you Vlad... More

I am shocked to read the reviews from people who say they will never go again to this beautiful place. My daughters partner took me there on 30th June, part of my 70th birthday celebrations. From my point of view it was amazing, beautiful scenery, a lovely afternoon tea and very good and attentive service. There were four of us... More

Booked to eat at hotel last Tuesday 24 June 2014 with my husband as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Told staff we had booked table in Terrace bar restaurant. He didn't take our name or seem bothered that we had a table booked. We asked where we could sit and was told either inside where they had the... More

I've been a regular visitor to Monkey Island for a long time, not more than once or twice a year, you understand, but over many, many years. I've never stayed, as I'm quite local, but have often used the bar, snacks and afternoon tea service. I'm was quite surprised by the number of negative reviews, but also understand a visit... More
