We have stayed at Ardsley House many times and never thought to leave a review. The service and facilitties are excellent and we are always made very welcome. The Saturday evening dinner in the restaurant provides excellent food, customer serivice and live music. We were treated to the Joannie Marchant Band, highly recommended. It is very hard to find this... more

Stayed for one night for a wedding in Barnsley. The decor and overall charm of the hotel is not great but the service and leisure facilities make up for it. The room I had was roomy and had everything I needed for an overnight stay. The breakfast was as good as any in this standard of hotel. The staff were... more

Accommodated here this weekend and I will never ever do so again. I stayed in the new wing which although the room was acceptable was six flights of stairs and from the warren of tunnels a country mile from reception. No lifts, porters on a break, poor quality breakfast, endless local revellers using this as a starting and ending point... more

We stayed overnight after attending a ball at the Hotel. The function and the function room were ideal to host such events and the staff were helpful although the waiting staff were young and rather inexperienced. The hotel room was clean although rather dated, as were the corridors and some of the general areas around the hotel. Even the breakfast... more

I have stayed here twice - once in Nov 06 and just recently July 07. Firstly, check your booking. I made an early reservation for a wedding and requested written confirmation. When it didn't arrive weeks later I called to find that Reservations had no record of my booking. November 06 - If you book a double room - ask... more

First of all, no offence to Barnsley but this isn't a major city or a town of recognised scenic beauty and therefore I wasn't expecting a hotel room to compare to those I've stayed in in New York, London, Vienna, Milan etc. My wife and I stayed in a suite (having been upgraded from an ordinary twin room). But what... more

This hotel reminds me of a care home. It is very poorly decorated and smells of mould! Our meal in the restauarant was foul. I am not sure as to how they think of charging for the mess which was on my plate but it was absolutely appalling!!! I have to admit that after my 2 days "vacation" at this... more

Being a Barnsley ex-pat, I know the Ardsley House wasn't going to be the height of luxury. Basically, it's an ok hotel if you need a crash pad. Nice and clean with generally good service. However, my partner and I had a huge shock upon viewing our room (#63 in case you get it!) and finding the smallest "double bed"... more

This hotel offers a home from home atmosphere. The staff are friendly but discreet. The food is of good standard. The rooms, though in need of modernisation, are clean and comfortable. The bar area is friendly and worm. Leisure facilities are excellent. I have been staying in this hotel for the past three months and feel very well looked after. more

Found the decor tired, but room and bathroom clean and tidy. The sports facilities were great. The staff friendly and helpful. Overall I got what I expected for the money, no more or less. more
