Helpful, polite and very friendly hotel. Couldn't have been more accommodating, made additional space at breakfast for non-residents to join us. Very attentive service. Also had a dinner reservation for 12 on Friday evening, great food and service for a large group. Rooms style is a little dated (but perhaps that's in keeping with the style of the place). However... The White Lion is really old with a fascinating history. The floorboards creak in a comforting sort of way as you head to your room. All very comfortable. We met up with friends in the front lounge with its lovely comfy leather sofas, it's the perfect place to have convivial drinks! I can highly recommend the Gevurtztraminer but there are... More

First time we went here was last year for my birthday and it wad excellent. Last minute decision to eat out tonight for our anniversary and chose here. Another fantastic decision because as before couldn't fault it. Staff great....asked to change table as we will stuck behind the door and it was no bother. Food was well presented, hot, full... We were not sure because it was the weekend of the Festival, but we had great food and fantastic service. The house Rioja was an absolute treat and the cheese board was an absolute delight. If your in the locality it has to worth a visit. We look forward to visiting again!

Visited the white lion again, this time for our silver wedding anniversary meal. Yet again the food was out of this world, the staff were absolutely lovely, no wonder they've won a culinary excellence award. The staff had decorated our table for us as I just happen to say it was our 25th anniversary. Love the place, never eaten better... More

My father and I visited the White Lion this afternoon for my birthday lunch. We were greeted by a lovely member of staff upon arrival. We were slightly early for lunch however, nothing was a problem. We were sat down almost straight away. The food was absolutely gorgeous, the starter which I had was prawn and salmon cocktail, the standard... More

We visited the area for the Malvern Show and stayed at the White Lion as it was fairly close and reasonably priced. The rooms were fine, a little dated, but clean and comfortable, with decent bathrooms. BUT THE FOOD! It was wonderful! Beautifully presented, good flavours and reasonably priced. All the staff were very peasant and attentive. We had an... More

My wife & I decided to have a drink in this old & characterful hotel. It was enjoyable, but nothing special. The interior is fairly placid: a number of sofas & chairs in the lounge room, with pictures & mirrors on the walls. There was another room (in which the bar itself was located) that had a TV and a... Mother's Day afternoon at 2:30 and we're taking a walk around the riverside town of Upton, hoping for a cream tea but recognising everywhere is packed with Mother's Day lunches. Popped a cautious head around the door and were met with a warm welcome and assurance (a) our business was welcome and (b) they could accommodate us in a warm... More

This pub hotel was amazing! I really don't know where to start. It dates from 1510 AD and the floorboards in the corridors tell you ... really creaky but added to the charm somehow. We planned to stay on Monday night only but phoned up on Saturday afternoon and asked for Sunday night as well. It is Cheltenham Race week... More
