We visited the area for the Malvern Show and stayed at the White Lion as it was fairly close and reasonably priced. The rooms were fine, a little dated, but clean and comfortable, with decent bathrooms. BUT THE FOOD! It was wonderful! Beautifully presented, good flavours and reasonably priced. All the staff were very peasant and attentive. We had an... More

My wife & I decided to have a drink in this old & characterful hotel. It was enjoyable, but nothing special. The interior is fairly placid: a number of sofas & chairs in the lounge room, with pictures & mirrors on the walls. There was another room (in which the bar itself was located) that had a TV and a... Mother's Day afternoon at 2:30 and we're taking a walk around the riverside town of Upton, hoping for a cream tea but recognising everywhere is packed with Mother's Day lunches. Popped a cautious head around the door and were met with a warm welcome and assurance (a) our business was welcome and (b) they could accommodate us in a warm... More

This pub hotel was amazing! I really don't know where to start. It dates from 1510 AD and the floorboards in the corridors tell you ... really creaky but added to the charm somehow. We planned to stay on Monday night only but phoned up on Saturday afternoon and asked for Sunday night as well. It is Cheltenham Race week... More

We stayed one for one night on Monday 23rd February to celebrate a 'special' birthday. Everything was spot-on, the warm welcome, the room, the food and the overall level of service. Best hotel for miles around!

When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly and helpful receptionists. Due to work being done on the room we had originally allocated we were upgraded to a four poster room at no extra charge and the room was en suite, beautiful, elegant and tasteful, made us feel special. We booked to eat in the dining room in the... More

I took a party of 43 members to the White Lion on Sunday 18th January. From the initial booking to the day I found the staff to be very helpful and obliging. The meal itself was served quickly and was piping hot, with a party that big is no mean feat. Of all the members attending that day I did... More

Lovely blonde lady behind bar, efficient, polite and happy. However, the old drunken man and his small group of (local) friends ruined my stay. The c and t words never mind the f word should never be used in a hotel bar environment. Next time I stay in Malvern I very much hope the foul mouthed locals have found a... More

Dear UKFoodie1, Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. Firstly, I must check that you have reviewed the correct business, as we are in Upton on Severn, not Malvern, but I am aware there is another pub with a similar name in the Malvern area. If your review does concern us then let me apologise... More
